You mean a 37 year old man that was giving him a hard time with his jab? Are you talking about that Middleweight that Pavlik beat twice??? Oh and B-Hop who is still at the top of his division?? Why don't you talk about Floyd losing to Castillo, getting knocked down by Judah?

No, he wouldn't. His punches may be thrown a big higher, but it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Leonard hti Hearns, Quintana hit Williams, Holyfield hit Valuev. Going to extremes, Joe Walcott fought men who were much bigger than he was, giving up 7" to ATG's and being successful. He gave up over a foot and 100lbs to certain opponents without being destroyed and beat good fighters who were a foot taller than him, yet you're telling me than Floyd Mayweather can't make up the height difference against a guy like Pavlik? Come off it... Mayweather would give up maybe 20lbs, yes. That amount doesn't turn him into a feather fisted fight. If he still has his speed, his snapping shots would get Pavlik's attention. As the saying goes, it's the punch you don't see that hurts you and this would be the case. Of course Mayweather can't walk Pavlik down landing big shots, but if you think a lunging Pavlik would walk through a sharp flush shot from Mayweather and feel no effect, you are wrong. Think about Stanley Ketchel knocking down Jack Johnson. Sure, it didn't bother him a lot but he was knocked down from it, so he obviously had the power to keep Johnson off him with a good shot. The difference between Mayweather and Pavlik in terms of power and chin, is greater than that of Ketchel and Johnson. No, it isn't. It's a perfect strategy in some cases, such as Ali/Foreman. If you can figure your opponent out, why is it a bad thing to sit on the ropes? Sure, your arms will take some damage and you may get tired, but the chances are if you do it effectively, your opponent will be worse off after 12 rounds of sitting on the ropes watching punches fly at you. Mayweather's body might not be hard to hit. I could hit his body or his shoulders, but landing flush? In his career, there are very few he has took when he's been on the ropes, like the one from Castillo which hurt him. To say he is not effective there is truly ridiculous. Mayweather incorporates this into his strategy. To suggest that he is forced into doing it is wrong. Against fighters like Mayweather? Oh, you mean Miranda, Zertuche and Lockett? Those defensive masters? The closest boxer to Mayweather Pavlik has faced is Hopkins and we all know what happened there. What makes you think this? Mayweather fought De La Hoya at 154lbs, yet took his power. Sure, you can say De La Hoya was old but power is the last thing to go. At 154lbs, De La Hoya was a big puncher and had stopped the incredibly tough Vargas years before and in the fight previously, stopped granite chinned Ricardo Mayorga. Sure, Mayweather may not have fought any big punching welterweights but he has faced a bigger, harder hitting fighter than any active welterweight in De La Hoya. Again, Foreman was bigger than Ali and the rope-a-dope tactics against bigger men aren't hard to find in boxing. I dont even think Mayweather would sit on the ropes all night though, because he would be more elusive when he moves. Do you understand what I mean by "better punchers"? I'm not talking about power, I'm talking about punching technique, feints, speed, accuracy and sharpness. To discount that, means you think that Kelly Pavlik is a better puncher than Juan Manuel Marquez. Please...please, don't tell me you actually think that, seriously. In what respect is Pavlik a mid-range fighter? He clearly isn't. He throws the odd body punch or hook against a guy who is covering up, just like Wladimir Klitschko does. He is not a good mid-range fighter at all and to suggest he is, is simply wrong. Being good at mid-range is exactly what Tyson was - They stay away from the outside, bob and weave, then dart in with fast combinations but without getting too close. It sounds a lot like Pavlik, huh? I think Mayweather would have some success on the inside, just like Hopkins did. Hopkins isn't an inside fighter either, but because Pavlik struggles so much when he's on the inside, it's easy to fire off a quick combination against him. That said, Pavlik would want the fight on the outside and so would Mayweather, so the bulk of the action happens there. He couldn't dictate the range, no, but he wouldn't need to, since all Pavlik can do is fight at long range.
What exactly could I learn from Pavlik/Miranda? The only thing it tells me is that Miranda can't fight going backwards. Everyone knows this. Just absurd. It's like me showing you a Mayweather knockout at 130lbs and telling you it proves Mayweather would knock Pavlik's bald head into the 9th row. It proves nothing and I don't think you seriously believe it does.
