I'd like you to be my girlfriend, because clearly size doesn't matter a jot to you D)! Does the colossal height, weight and power advantage Pavlik would have mean nothing to you at all??? I mean, this isn't an advantage of a couple of inches in height and reach which is pretty standard in most fights, nor would it be an advantage in weight of a few pounds as is also pretty standard in most fights. This would be a gaping chasm in terms of size the likes of which boxing hasn't seen outside of the heavys for decades (the most recent comparable one I can think of is Monzon vs Napoles, and that was in the ****ing 70s!). Floyd only weighed 149 or 150 on fightnight vs Oscar and that was a lmw fight. He was 152 on fightnight vs Marquez, so I think the highest Floyd could manage to be on fightnight would be between 150-155. Pavlik is a gigantic middleweight. He looks like a light-heavy when he's in with standard mw's like Lockett. Hell, he has fought over 160 twice already, and I don't think he looked the smaller man in the ring either time. I firmly believe Pavlik can go from 160 at the weigh-in for a mw fight to around 170-175 on the night. 20-25lbs advantage on Floyd? Forget about it. Mismatch.
Feel free to break these two posts down: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6443631&postcount=96 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6446944&postcount=164 Precedents for a Mayweather/Pavlik win: Robinson/LaMotta Jones/Ruiz Braddock/Baer Louis/Carnera Duran/Barkley Dempsey/Willard Leonard/Hagler Fitzsimmons/Corbett O'Brien/Johnson (Draw) Walcott/Russell (Draw) Langford/Tate Langford/Wills Armstrong/Garcia Greb/Tunney Burley/Moore Burley/Charles Burley/Turner Carpentier/Smith There are many, many more. Anyone basing a Pavlik win based on sized has no knowledge of the sport.
It would mean something to me if Pavlik had a style that could take advantage of those physical attributes, but he just doesn't. A fighter who would beat Mayweather on size and style, would have to be aggressive, someone who would rough Mayweather up on the inside, but Pavlik wouldn't do that. I'm not ignoring the height/weight issue. I just dont see how it's relevant when one guy doesn't know how to use it to his advantage.
Pavlik is extremely aggressive. He wouldn't have to rough Floyd up on the inside, he could play the long game, utilizing the jab and straight shots, keeping the smaller man too far away to land anything. Whatever way this fight went, Floyd would not win it. And that's no slight on him, he is a far superior fighter to Pavlik, but the size difference is just far too much. 20-25lbs man, come on.
Pavlik is aggressive, yes, but his style is to box on the outside, which Mayweather can handle all night. OK, so lets assume that Mayweather couldn't take Pavlik's power. Now, in which fights has Mayweather been hit by guys who punch as slow or have as little technical punching skill as Pavlik? And in which fights has Pavlik landed anyone someone who is as remotely good defensively as Mayweather? Even better, which of those happened on the outside?
Once again, watch the Espino fight. Obviously you haven't. Kelly didn't have his left because it still wasn't 100% and it was an inside fight. Espino going down several times from hooks. Kelly landing body shots. Please.
They are precedents if you igoore the styles mismatch and pick purely on size, as some people are choosing to do.
I've seen the fight, I just choose not to reference it because I'm talking about Floyd Mayweather and you're talking about Miguel ****ing Espino. Again, it's like me saying "You don't think Mayweather can hurt Pavlik? Pff...watch Mayweather knock Manfredy out and tell me the same thing wouldn't happen again". It's Espino - It means nothing.
It is ONE example of him fighting on the inside. Floyd can move his head all he wants, but it is much harder to move the body when he is in range. Kelly goes to the body on the inside. The bigger man is bound to break down the smaller man. But I know, I can give no examples because Floyd is Floyd and that is that. atsch
It's ok. Hopkins stood in front of Pavlik many times in their fight, so feel free to find me the many examples of Pavlik's inside skills there. If Mayweather was affected by Pavlik's punching on the inside, do you think he'd stay there or jump around like a flea, leaving Pavlik for dead?
If Kelly gets Mayweather in the corner it will be Kelly leaving Floyd for dead. You can take that to the bank. Tell Floyd to grow some balls and call him out. You know he won't. This is all you have and ever will have. Your Floyd Fantasies. Be happy in them. I'm out of this pile of crap.
I think it's better to do that now. You've been schooled worse than Hopkins/Pavlik. Tuck your balls in between your legs and bye bye
To me, this is just silly. It's like saying Carlos Monzon was slower than Jose Napoles, so Jose Napoles beats him. Size matters. Sorry, but it just does. Mayweather is a far, far better fighter than Pavlik, but 20-25lbs on the night is just too much. We can keep going back and forth on it all night long if you want, but I guarantee Pavlik would crush him if they fought (which they never will because Floyd knows that's what would happen - again I must reiterate that is NOT a slight on Floyd in any way, I wouldn't expect anyone in the world to chase a fight with a brutal puncher who has enormous height and weight advantages on them). I think you know this is the case really, but are just now set on keeping this thread going to avoid losing face for a really rash and ill-informed opinion.
Last time I check, I make you look stupid on all your posts then you disappear from the forums for awhile. Is that the only thing you bring up, the JMM fight? Btw, you just said he would win a Unanimous Decision get your **** straight son, owned... AGAIN
