Duran is a highly skilled brawler whose greatest strength is neutralising other brawlers. Pavlik doesn't bring that much to the table that's relevant here that Barkley doesn't, and Duran's super-slick head movement, ability to take the fight to the inside, ATG chin and experience would make it a very difficult night for Pavlik. He'd get under his arms, take away his best tools (the jab and straight right) and make him fight an uncomfortable fight getting countered on the inside. Pavlik's sheer physicality and fundamentally solid technique would probably give him the edge several times out of 10, but I wouldn't make him a clear favourite by any means.

Mayweather, aside from the fact that he's nowhere near Duran's class anyway, can do none of that. He runs from confrontation and would spend most of the night getting worked over on the ropes rather than actually trying to score. If he did conjure up some bottle, he'd just get jabbed to death under Pavlik's height and reach.

 

Duran vs. Pavlik is actually a really nice idea for a fantasy match-up. I might start a thread on that over on Classic.
