I think there is a whole puzzle to beating Floyd Mayweather, each recent opponent has found certain pieces of the jigsaw, but none has been able to put it together for the full 12 rounds. I would say a peak DLH may have had him, but on the flip side, Floyd didn't really get going against Oscar, so may have been able to find that extra 10% to do the job. I have no idea!
Because I see no current fighters being able to beat a prime ready and motivated Floyd Mayweather is why
If you are talking hypothetically. Sugar Ray Leonard had the offence, the speed, the power, to have beaten Floyd. Oscar '98 took the chances needed for him to have gotten punches in and he had the speed and power. Tito could have beaten him. It was all about power with Tito at welterweight, and Floyd never has or never will take a punch as Tito could have landed it. Tito could have landed it on the elbow, the shoulder, on the zit below Mayweather's ass, and Mayweather would have stumbled. Also Mosley circa first DLH fight. Hearns, of course, for same reasons as Tito but a better boxer. I don't know about Cotto. I am still on the fence. Love him as a fighter just not sure he can outbox PBF. PBF is the best right now at welterweight. But some welters from the past could have beat him. Oh yeah, Duran.
Firstly, welterweight is above Mayweather best weight class...He is great between 130 and 140. Now having said that, there is no way any fighter would matter of factly as you think be able to beat Floyd Mayweather, it would always be a close fight if anybody were to beat Mayweather. He knows how to safely get his shots in and time his opponents body movement.
Great fighters have to push themselves thru incredible threshholds of pain in training. Even the great ones need a break lol
Thought you were talking about Floyd today. It's a hard pick with the guy since he moves up and down in weight. Last fight was at welter and he is judged as welter right now but he might fight at 154 again with DLH and then we will classify him as that. I agree with you he is great but hard to pin down because of weight jumping. If we are talking 130-140 I would say Julio Cesar Chavez. Only because of the problems Floyd had against inside pressure fighters in Castillo and early Hatton rounds. Julio was like that but amazingly accurate and fast with incredible stamina who got his knockouts in the late rounds. But we can pick any of our current favorite fighters and pick someone from the past to beat him. The hard part is picking someone active today.
I disagree. Zab completely outclassed Zoo in the first round and became completely cocky like if he had the fight in the bag. Floyd wouldn't get cocky.
I think Mayweather is smart enough to neutralize the big punch. But if Tszu lands then the fight is his. Just like had DLH landed his left than the fight would have been his. That is why I brought up Trinidad in prime cuz he could land on your head and you crumpled under the punch.
