So he's thinking about eventually going up to 160?

The answer will largely depend on how he performs on May 5th at 154 imo.

Apparently his health is safe in the higher weights. Running up to middleweight to duck Pac?

Even PBF-SS at 154 would be a great fight.

Floyd beats Martinez...even with inactivity and shot legs.

I think Floyd has a great shot. Sergio has a habit of taking rounds off and fighting with his hands down. And Barker's D was impenetrable for much of the fight.

Exactly, many people are high on Martinez's athleticism and size; however they fail to point out he has never fought anyone who is as athletic as himself (or even more so). Furthermore, he gets hit alot in ALL his fights by guys below his level (whether there damaging blows is a different case).

Sergio may have a cycling and Fooball (soccer) background but he is 37 and has had tough fights, he needs those rounds off.

By the way great post brother.:thumbsup

There is no doubt that Mayweather is the smoother operator, but Martinez also represents a step up for someone with speed, athleticism, power, strength, and height and reach advantages. If it was a straight up fight tomorrow, than I would expect Martinez to use his strength advantage. If Mayweather takes his time to transition well, then I expect Mayweather to beat Martinez.

Here are the two big question marks I have over Mayweather in such a fight. Can his chin handle the bigger punches (Martinez has shown 1 punch KO power) and how will he deal with Martinez reach. Mayweather has certainly fought guys with longer reach, but they were 1 dimensional fighters who came forward. Martinez likes to use his reach to box on the outside.

I think the biggest advantage Mayweather has is timing. Martinez drops his hands a lot, and it works cause he is faster. I don't think he would have the speed advantage against Mayweather unless he bulks up too much.

I totally agree with the chin aspect that will be a test...but I will go on record a say I believe mayweather cans stop Martinez (via TKO) by accumulation of punches down the course of the fight and Martinez tires...
The strenght (not punching power) element I feel Mayweather will deal with well, because he is stronger then he looks and has great balance and postioning.

    Great post brother. :thumbsup

Martinez KO's EVERYONE and thats one bigass man..Floyd gets props for even mentioning 160, he can fight this guy at 150 and get respect from me..Floyd cant fight flatforward like he has been lately...he needs to be able to lunch off his feet and use his foot speed to add to his reach...it will be cool to see 150lb Mayweather boxing smoothly like he used to do and running like he did against Diego..I miss the days when he used to box...now he flatfooted inside fighter
