Yeah, i'm with you all the way man. I cant stand when people say 'why should floyd fight cotto when cotto lost to marg or mosley b/c of his losses, etc..." when the reality is that floyd has only fought less than a handful of undefeated fighters in his career, the main 2 being corrales and the MOST OVERRATED FIGHTER OF ALL TIME, ricky hatton.

floyd is a GREAT fighter, but like you said, hasnt fought anyone at 140 and 147. what i dont understand is that if floyd nuthuggers dont think he has to fight cotto or mosley, then i want to know then who the hell do they want to see him fight? i personally would rather him fight mosley or cotto than pac.

i guess time will only tell. like roy, he is an amazing fighter he may leave behing many questions unless he changes that soon.

Another thing they say is there is no reason to fight Mosley or Cotto because the wont win :patsch Then why fight anyone then because Mayweather will be the favorite in every fight then right ? Its just stupid if he has no reason to fight the best guys because he would be the favorite then why continue to box ? However when he signs on to fight JMM or Hatton they do there best to build the guys up.

honestly, it wont put him much higher than he is right now. cotto is good but his career so far does not put him in the area of the greats. mosely would have been a great win before he started collecting social security. doesnt matter if the joy suck club thinks im just trying to rob floyd of his credit, the truth is the truth. what it will show is that floyd beat the best that was available in his time and that is all anyone can ask of him.

If, and this is a mighty, mighty, mighttttty big if, he'll have a good bid to be within the top 30 for sure.

Even bigger stretch? If he cleans out all of the top Welters.

Even bigger? Establishing himself with a few belts/big names at 154, or maybe winning a belt at 160.

Each of those scenarios is systematically more unlikely, however, given Mayweather's penchant for avoiding risk, and due to his age now. Only 6 years until he is another Calzaghe.

Not much higher, if any at all. I expect Cotto to be ruined by Pacquiao, and even Cotto in the form he's in right now certainly wouldn't push Mayweather ahead of anyone who currently outranks him. Mosley has been past his prime for years now and has always been at a stylistic disadvantage against Floyd anyway. I expect he'd beat both very clearly, and therefore it wouldn't prove anything to me I didn't already know. He'd still be in the 50-60 range for me.

50-60 doesnt sound far off considering he looks so good against the less than stellar opposition. i actually think he could drop some on most lists depending on how the fights play out. i mean if mosely takes him to the cards in a close fight then you have to take into consideration that he is fighting at the level of an old mosely and that is not going to land him in the top 50. if he was a natural lightweight taking mosely to the cards then that would be a different story.

right now I put him around 45-50..i could see giving him a top 25 spot if he beat the Pac-Cotto winner and the mosley-berto winner

Right now he's threatened BIG TIME by Pacquiao and needs wins over Pac/Cotto winner and Mosley to make things closer. A few more dangerous fights and he beats Pac again in my opinion.

Pac has done far more than expected in the 2 years Mayweather was off. I don't think even Mayweather thought Pac would go that far, not even ROACH thought so till the DLH offer came up.

It's all about shocking people and doing the "impossible".

How would beating fighters he's fully expected to beat (two of which are far from ATG material, the others being either past their prime or smaller) raise his stock 20-25 places, especially considering how much more difficult it is to rise up in the rankings the higher you get?

IF he beat A Mosley and a Cotto than I would have to say that he took on pretty much all challenges..I mean that would make him legit at 147 ..the only thing left to do if he did that would be to try and get a title at 160 which I doubt Floyd would ever do....I think Floyd is held to higher expectations than other fighters...WHEN MOSLEY WAS GOING AFTER PAC IT WAS OK CUZ HIS AGE BUT IF FLOYD FIGHTS PAC THAN HE IS PICKING ON A SMALLER FIGHTER...FLOYDS TALENTS ARE RIDICULOUS AND IF HE FOUGHT ALL TOP FIGHTERS AT 147 (MOSLEY AND COTTO/PAC WINNER) THAN WHAT COULD U REALLY SAY TO TAKE HIS CROWN AWAY?..Right now I keep him around that 50 spot cuz he hasn't fought ne 1 like a MOSLEY OR A COTTO...A WELTERWEIGHT IN THEIR PRIME WITH SPEED AND POWER..EVEN A WIN OVER PAC WOULD RAISE HIM IMO...

I have also never seen someone so comfortable in a boxing match or a fight..When floyd gets in the ring he thinks better than most fighters in the history of the sport...
