Would be even more interesting to see how dominant he would've been had he fought more than once every year-2 years since the DLH fight. There had to be a little ring rust in almost every bout he came back in, but it was hard to tell because he was still wiping out the top level opposition (i.e. Hatton, Marquez, Cotto, Mosley, Ortiz.) If he fought more regularly since 2007, I'd imagine he would've looked even more crisp than he has during this late phase of his boxing career. Just an incredible fighter to watch.
Now,he is the best he will ever be now. The fight with Alvarez is proof of that a little. He is facing an undefeated fighter,much younger and bigger. Many of Floyds fights have been scrutinized for timing, fighting the older version of fighter X I myself Don't agree with this but that is said a lot. From this point on, all his fights will be him past his prime fighting guys in theirs. Just look at 147-154 fighters that may fight Floyd in next few years. All much younger Garcia,Khan,Matthysse,Thurman,Alexander,Brook,Bradley...... He is forced to do a 180 He was once seen as the prime fighter fighting guys slightly past their best. Now all that is left are prime fighters looking for him when he is past his best.
Top level?atsch Of the fighters you mentioned, only Hatton imo I'd consider a threat at the time Mayweather fought them. Thats why this matchup with Canelo is going to say alot about where Mayweather's legacy stands. Mayweather imo needs to beat Canelo clearly in order for his victories over the fighters you mentioned to have some merit.

True, a win over Alvarez with such an age difference would show that Floyd still has at 36 what those other guys lost younger than 36. longevity must be a factor in placement of all time standings
i liked him at 130-140. he had a great mix of offense and defense. the older welterweight floyd is alot more technical, i think you need to understand boxing to really appreciate what he does sometimes
