Definitely up there. Coming off an 18 month lay off (IIRC?) to shut out the p4p #2 was impressive to say the least. An underrated win.
Who was made to jump up TWO Divisions AND looked like sh*t. May looked great in that fight, how could he not? But his best win is Chico.
not really Marquez moved up two divisions to fight him and only 2 fights before that had been a super featherweight. if Mayweather announced his next opponent was Miguel Vazquez i doubt many people would be happy good win but you have to take that into account
Really?? I'm not even trolling here genuinely shutting out JMM was unreal moving up in weight or not Cotto and DLH were better wins than Corrales
Agree at LWW the win would carry more weight (pun intended but the lay off offsets that for me. Still a great win. Plus we can't knock Mayweather for his demands on weight when he stepped up to LMW for ODLH and Cotto and catchweight for Canelo - particularly as he is nowhere near a natural LMW. His natural weight to me appears ~140 lb.
I seem to recall Canelo's team offering that at the outset in order to lure him into the fight. It would have been stupid not to take it. Regardless, that was a fair weight where both fighters shifted from their status quo.
Cotto and Canelo are bigger guys than Oscar by some margin DLH. Started out at lightweight Canelo will end up Super middle probably
DLH and Cotto, are you for real? Idiot. Go and watch the Chico fight. Floyd was unreal that night. That was a FLAWLESS performance.
At what point do you factor in Marquez's future success at Welterweight weighing the same as he did against Floyd but being older and having been involved through that much more additional punishment? He still managed to score KO of the Year and one of the best wins of the past decade over one of the best fighters of the past several decades at the same weight a couple years later.
duckweather was scared to finish jmm of he said he is tough he is tough i wanted to finish him of but he kept fighting back so i fought him smart.....
I don't care why. Why did Oscar make Hopkins drop 4 pounds to a catchweight? Why did Williams make Sergio drop 2 pounds to a catchweight? Why did Pacquiao make Cotto drop 2 pounds to a catchweight? Why did Hopkins make Pavlik balloon up 10 pounds to a catchweight? I judge the fights for what they are. I don't worry about reasons for it. Would beating Alvarez in the same fashion at the full 154 have been nicer? Yes... But I don't entirely discredit the above listed fights because negotiations led to them agreeing to a set weight. So why would I for Mayweather/Alvarez? Catchweights are lame, but nothing new in boxing.
