Mayweather's best wins vs. Roy Jones best wins

Judah beat Spinks, Corley, and Witter. Tarver beat Jones, Harding, and Johnson. Seems like a wash to me.

 

Asterion, I know this isn't related to the thread, but aside from their respective resumes, who do you consider the better fighter (both in their primes)?

 

Mayweather hasn't beaten everyone out there. Lets not make things up, and there will be no need for things to get heated here. There are a slew of fightters, champions at that, that both Jones and Mayweahther missed in their weight classes.

And I expect you to give Jones credit for his Trinidad win, since you started a thread about his excuse for LOSING before the fight.

If Mayweather gets credit for Hernandez level fighters, then give Roy credit for Griffin, Woods and McCallum.

And, Roy by an absolute ****ing mile, Mayweather's resume is vastly overrated. Let's also add that on both sides, Roy lost very few rounds to the fighters in his best wins, which are of superior quality and Mayweather lost more in the two Castillo fights, who's a B+ fighter at best then Roy lost in several years of his run.

Don't even try to pimp Mayweather over Roy Asterion.

That's not true. Cotto allows his team to select the fights, if they selected Mayweather, he'd be in training to fight him tomarrow.

But we damn well know that while Mayweather may not fear a fight with Cotto, he simply does not want any challenges and wants the most money for easy fights where he doesn't have to push himself to the limit in.

I don't respect the above, sorry, it takes away from him considerably.

And he'll never surpass Roy, Roy was 2x as good a fighter as Floyd was in his prime.

It's not even close. RJJ by a landslide. Mayweather became p4p #1 by default because Hopkins lost to Taylor, whereas RJJ dominated the p4p #1 or #2 (depending on who you ask) in Toney to stake his claim. He went on to dominate LHV and win a belt against a good, but not great HW beltholder in Ruiz (yes he was good enough to beat Holyfield, Rahman, Johnson, and Golota).

Mayweather has good victories at 130 and 135, but not so much at 140-154. Both guys are guilty of not fighting the best in their respective weight classes. RJJ has the definite edge and (as hard as it is to believe) took more risks than Mayweather has so far. Not to mention RJJ was 35yrs old and basically undefeated at 50-0 (yeah he got DQd against Griffin, but he was going to win) before he lost a rematch to Tarver and went on that losing streak.

 

RJJ clearly wins this. People are inclined to say PBF opposition is better because they know his opposition better, forgotten how good some of Roys opponents were perceived to be at the time. Someone like Hill can easily be said to have had a better career than Hatton for example yet Hatton is a huge win for PBF.
