considering that griffin is like 5'7'' or 8'' it is amazing to me he beat Derrick Harmon, who is always at my old boxing gym. The guy is huge when he isn't at fighting weight - 200+ pounds. Now that he is at cruiser I think he is doing himself more justice without cutting all that weight. For a little guy like Griffin to beat him implies extraordinary skill - I think he is worthy of the ranking as a name opponent Jones defeated handily ... the second time.
:rofl:rofl:rofl They do huh..I guess the promoter with all the money to make the fights dont have say.
Guess you can now add Trinidad to Jones's resume. Jones - Toney, Hopkins, McCallum and Trinidad Mayweather - dela Hoya Jones wins in my opinion.
So you're including old Hernandez but not old McCallum or old Tito? You're not including Tarver? Either way, Roy's top 2 wins clearly outstripe Floyd's top 2 wins. And Floyd arguably lost to Castillo in the first fight. Resume-wise, it's still pretty close, dominance and performance wise, Roy by a mile.
He won't be added now. Years from now he will be, the same way Holmes was added to Tyson and Ali was added to Holmes, and SRL was added to Norris, and so one. However, technically, Jones has now bested 4 ATG.
Toney and Hopkins alone end this. People forget just how great Hopkins is. Boring? Yes! Beat smaller guys? yes. But his resume is still a great one, and his longevity is ridiclious. And exactly the same point with Toney.
I disagree. Ali was hardly a very good win for Holmes, but even though Holmes and SRL were not in their primes, they were still able, alot moreso than Ali was, and thus good wins. Not as good as they could've been(likely wouldn't have been wins had they been in their primes) but Tyson's win over Holmes and Norris's win over SRL are still good wins.
Hopkins is boring now, yes. In his prime? Not so much, I quite enjoyed watching his performances in the mid to late 90's, and his performance against Tito.
The Ali Holmes fought, I've already said, a flyweight could have outpointed. Holmes coming off a 2 year lay off after losing twice to a Light Heavy. He was finished. SLR was shot. You don't have to be prime to be a good name on a resume, but those you mentioned were ridiclious. I don't think anybody mentions Ali in Holmes greatest victories. I don't think anyone mentiosn SLR in norris' best wins. I don't think anyone mentions Holmes in Tysons best wins.
I never said great win or best win. I said they rate them. You may have said it, and thats your opinion. People who disagree are not "******s".
I apoligise for the use of the word "******s". Do you rate Holmes victory over Ali? Ali looked like Jerry Quarry with two broken arms.
