anyone else remember when floyd mayweather dedicated his fight with corrales to women who were victims of domestic abuse when corrales had just done a stint in jail for allegedly beating his girlfriend prior to their fight? i just find it ironic and also sad where mayweather is at in his life now compared to then. he used to be marketed as a very polite and humble individual and now that he's achieved superstardom with his persona as the villian he's going to do jail time for carrying out the exact same crime. i love floyd's boxing ability, and wish his role as the bad guy was just a farce to earn the public's attention, but it turns out he was never the nice and humble guy that he was protrayed as early in his career.
Didnt Corrales do time AFTER the fight? I cant remember now, either way it would be funny if Cotto did the same LOL! But he wouldn't and even if he did it wouldnt affect Floyd. I dont really get too involved in boxers personal lives, I'm not interested in them in role models I just want to see good skills.
haha yeah i also found that quote in the ring hilarious. i couldn't beleive he compared himself to two civil rights leaders when asked about his prison sentence. they went to prison over noble causes, trying to have african american rights recognized and bring about positive change in society. and somehow him going to jail for assaulting his wife in front of his children is similar?:-( I'm not trying to troll or anything and i guess i shouldn't be surprised when boxers act like this outside of the ring. they do speak the language of violence and get paid for beating people up. still though it's a damn shame.
