Analysis: Out of all the talk about PBF not fighting quality comp. From age 21-25 PBF fought quality fighters like Genero Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Carlos Rios, ****** Juuko, Carlos Gerena, Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, and Jose Luis Castillo, that's 5yrs 9 quality fighters. In comparison Mosley fought only Philip Holiday as a quality opponent from the age of 21-25. PBF had 5yrs ahead of Mosley in the comp department. Mosley started in 1993 while PBF started in 1996 having 3 yrs ahead of PBF. In comparison while Cotto fought better comp then Mosley he still didn't reach the level of comp that PBF did from the ages of 21-28 though fighting Pacman will elevate his comp drastically. And with guy a guy like PBF on possibly on the horizon his level of comp up to the age of 29 will be above all other fighters. In comparison while Pacman ended strong vs guys like Barrera and Marquez. He also didn't come close to the level of comp that PBF did from the ages of 21-25. Though from Ages 25-28 Pacman did load up on the comp by facing JMM, Morales x3, Barrera. In comparison Margarito's level of comp though decent for a young fighter in the low 20s also did not reach the level of comp that PBF fought and to this day he hasn't reach the level of comp PBF fought when you rate the comp over the course of a career. In comparison Williams level like Mosley's is a joke compared to the level of comp that PBF has faced from ages 21-25 and over the course of there careers. Though facing Pavlik does bring it up a few notches. Conclusion: This is why PBF is allowed to retire and come back to the sport of boxing. This is why PBF does not need to clean out divisions. This is why some but not all of the critique on PBF is a joke. Because from the start of his career he was already facing top competition while the names also posted up on in this thread were coasting for yrs. By the time PBF turns 38 like Mosley his overall level of comp from age of 21-38 is going to put Mosley to shame. Cotto only started facing real comp consistency at age 24. Pacman fought majority of his fights in Phillipines until age 24-25. Margarito fought nobody important until arguably (to be generous Cintron at age 27) though IMO Clottey at age of 28. Williams didn't fight anyone important until arguably Margarito at 25. So Mayweather fights tough comp from ages 21-25 while these guys get free passes up to the ages of 24-28? This along with moving up to 154 to fight DLH, on Cinco De Mayo, With 10 ounce glove while DLH fought in 8, in a smaller then normal sized ring. Along with moving up 4 weight classes, to win 6 belts, fighting in 18 title fights out of 40 fights is why he is allowed to let these other fighters beat each other up while he beats the winner for big paydays.
I dont think anyone could discredit Mayweathers career before 2006. Now in the present or since he started fighting at 147 his only last true test was against Zab Judah. Beating Carlos Baldomir was not a true test and he knew it was going to be an easy victory, a true Cinderella story Carlos was. Now lets hear some names of at least top 5 or top 10 welterweights at "147" that he has faced. I'll start with the obvious Zab Judah, but I have a feeling thats going to be the only true opponent he has faced in the welterweight division.:good
You know Mike Tyson did more at age 20 and 21 then any other HW in history, but that doesn't make him the greatest HW ever. I know it's a different situation, but the point is you have to look at the overall picture. I agree that Mayweather could boost his resume in the years to come, even to the point where it surpasses that of any other fighter of his generation, but guess what? So far, he hasn't done it and at the moment he's showing no inclination to wanna do something about that. And as it stands now, i don't see anyone on Mayweather's resume that a Shane Mosley couldn't beat, whereas i do see a few guys on Mosley's resume that i'm not sure Floyd beats (most of which Shane lost to himself, Forrest, Winky, Cotto, but i'm also not 100% sure he beats a PRIME DLH or Margarito). And that, my friend, is what we call the bottom line.
I thought this post was great!!! Everyone wants to talk about Mayweathers level of competition like he hasn't fought anybody, but when you break it down like this all they can say is that they can not believe you have this much time on your hands. LMFAO! GREAT POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the worse posts ive ever seen on this site. And im not surprised to see that it was a fraud groupie that posted it.
