Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s unanimous win over Manny Pacquiao in May shattered the pay-per-view record with 4.4 million buys of the Showtime-HBO joint broadcast. But for what could be Mayweather’s final fight, CBS is apparently in play.

A source told CBSSports.com that Mayweather has trimmed his list of possible opponents for the final fight of his Showtime contract, set for September, and that the fight could very well be broadcast live for free on CBS.

According to the CBSSports.com source, an announcement regarding Mayweather’s September bout could be made this week.

I'd be shockingly refreshed to see something of this nature happen regarding Floyd's next fight.

If it is against the likes of Berto, im sorry but I wont be watching...even if its free.

There are levels in boxing. Floyd in his last fight is levels above someone like Berto. If he thinks he should ease his way out of the game, he should be retiring without the need to fight someone on levels below himself.

Free on CBS... sounds great but I doubt it.

Would be a great way to go out with mass exposure, an excuse for a lesser opponent than usual for him, and makes sense with hyping and promoting PBC to the maximum. So there are some things that logically make sense here.

But financially, it doesn't make any sense at all.

He could get some money from ratings, sponsors and whatnot but the PPV market is still lucrative for him.

Good decision, Khan probably gets 600-700 thousand buys, the rest be lucky to top 550.

I think he's contracted to one more fight with Showtime? If he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight his 50th and final fight on CBS for the first PBC World Tilte.

Him and Haymon are up each others ****s. It's not just their relationship though, he'll have some financial stake in PBC.

I'm mixed on my opinion. Great exposure for boxing...but it also means a dogsh*t opponent.

The greater good is an increase inboxing popularity so overall it is good.

I thought he had a guaranteed $32m per fight? So it would have to be PPV on SHotime.

Maybe his 50th fight would be on CBS but he'd want that cheque first.
