It could be really good marketing for the PBC brand. With that said, would you be surprised if the Haymon fund subsidized some of Floyd's money?

I'm not saying all of it, but at this point PBC is taking a loss on most if not all of their events. Why would this be any different?

I love you bro but this is not a HW fight and sponsorships would be less than zero:deal:smooch

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on advertising.

But Mayweather is a pretty big deal, and I can't think of one good reason why advertisers who normally buy ad space for major US sporting events would shun this one altogether.

In other words, I'd be shocked if there weren't plenty of advertisers willing to dish out money for some space. Maybe not Super Bowl levels, but enough that the idea seems at least plausible to me.

And Rico made a good point. Tyson was facing Mathis Jr - and I remember that, and the interview John Madden did with Tyson, where I believe one of the questions asked was "Do you like boxing?"

good exposure for Floyd to build up to another PPV fight...he will fight a stiff opponent, like Berto
and then fight another Haymon fighter on PPV...like Thurman

Safe way for Floyd to pick an easy fight, preserve his "0" and no one to complain about it being a PPV fight. Genius.

Fruit of the Loom *wife beaters* brand.

Idk, but I'm sure marketers will be lining up to advertise for the fight. He's already guaranteed money through his contract with showtime. Which is owned by CBS. I doubt creating a model in order for him to get paid would be all that difficult.

This would be a huge boost for PBC. So maybe since they can't pay Floyd 40 million to fight, they give him a percentage of PBC's future earnings? This would appeal to Floyd since his fighting income is about to stop.

What earnings? Not one show has ended up in the black yet. If you think about it people watch Mayweather for 2 reasons to see his skills or to see him get KOed. Same reason a lot of people watched Ali. A Mayweather fight would do big time viewership numbers on CBS. Haymon could charge for the commercial space and would be able to pay Floyd his guarantee and it would be huge publicity for CBS and in turn make #50 (we all know he is going to have another fight and he will be a free agent so if this fight on CBS does huge numbers it will give him more bargaining power with HBO or Showtime) a bigger 'event'.
