He has the stamina in his legs to go the 12 rounds, but even in the Marquez bout, he wasn't moving that much. He moved when he needed to move, and he wasn't as "springy" as he used to be...which is completely understandable. I highly, highly doubt he could move now like he did say against Corrales. But again, he's older, and heavier. His footwork is still arguably the best in the sport, but his movement has become much, much less. He still has the power and stamina in his legs though.
from this thread I have seen that there are some good boxing people that know stuff, right here on ESB.:deal Keep it going lads cos it is like a breath of fresh air reading and learning what gets written by those who have understanding and tolerance to other posters. :thumbsup
This content is protected . This is how he used to look at his peak: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4k-jZe0CAM[/ame] He is so quick. Legs, body movement, punch speed...reaction speed/reflexes. Incredible. And his stamina was always incredible...specifically with his legs. Rounds 9-11 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju484cZ9FKw[/ame]
Well he did complain about feeling like his body was breaking down before the Hatton fight. Bad hands, bad shoulder, etc. Who knows how that almost two year break affected his body. I tend to chalk up his different style of fighting more due to inactivity than sharp physical decline. I'm interested to see if and how he moves May 5th.
Yeah Floyd does look big. I thought he looked pretty big vs Ortiz too. He might not go back down to 147 after this fight, with the Pac fight dead in the water it looks like Canelo next, then hopefully Martinez?
Activity will keep him sharp. One of the old interviews I posted up with him which was when he was still with Arum and young, had to do with him feeling better when he was more active. But he has no excuse now. He does it to himself with the inactivity. However, if it is because he needs a break because he is worn down and can't take the training camps he puts himself through...well then it's understandable. Overall, he is 35 and declined but declining from where he was to where he is now...is still quite high compared to the field. So we don't have to get to dramatic about it. But Sr. and Roger both feel activity is key.
remember he said in an interview he was trying to get to 153 vs Mosley, but was just under that - vs Oscar he was 149 or something, vs ortiz he was 150
Why do people keep coming up with he's big bull****. He won't be more than 154 on fight night ffs, probably not even 152.
Conveniently, he refused to weigh-in on fight night against Marquez, and Mosley. But agiainst Ortiz he was 149? I thinnk. . . But he looked a lot bigger than Marquez, and Mosley on fight night. . . I think because of the speculation, he purposely kept his rehydration weight down against Ortiz. But it really doens't matter that much, he's definitely not a "big" WW, and he's a tiny ass 154 pounder. He'll prolly only weigh in at like 148-150.
Doc is the same guy that said his hero Canelo would knock out Donald Curry and then later admitted that he had never seen Curry fight before. how ****ing clueless is that?
