Roach has already said that he's going to have the gloves inspected. He thinks they have too much padding in them. That's a first, a trainer complaining that the opponent's glove has too much padding.
Jesus... Due to the magnitude of this fight it will go down in boxing history and will be seen by hundreds of millions of people. I hope his outfit is a good one, he has worn some shocking shorts in the past.
Are there rules pertaining to glove colors? I would think some gloves may be hard for the opponent to see if it blended into the background scene, while others like florescent glowing orange could be distracting to the fighter or judges.
No, he's talking just about Floyd's gloves. He points out that they're custom made and believes they have too much padding in them. He says that Manny's gloves are made by a machine and are all the same. He mentioned Mayweather's past hand problems, so perhaps he's hoping he can get less padding in the glove and Mayweather would be at a bigger risk of hurting his hand. This actually wouldn't be a first time Roach may have done something like this. Roach was the trainer when Hoya fought Mayweather. Hoya famously made Mayweather wear Reyes gloves in that fight, Reyes gloves offer less protection for a fighter's hands. I wouldn't be surprised if that was Roach's idea.
God damn, people are hating on glove color now...!!! What's next, gonna hate on foul protectors, mouthpieces, shoe laces, etc...!!!
