Did you hear the Ellerbe interview? He said something about Chepo Reynoso offering a catchweight on boxing scene. Ellerbe said the fans should do their due diligence and not to take his word for it. I'm trying to do my due diligence as a fan. Did you find what he was talking about? he was asked about about Canelo's 2011 statement, but Ellerbe said Canelo trainer offered it to him and it was on boxing scene.

 

The back and forth banter is something I truly don't care about. The fight is here, and Canelo agreed to 152. I'm just not a nitpicker.

 

Golovkin would beat the hell out of Canelo. Nobody has stopped Marquez so bad example.

haha look man i'm trying to be as unbiased as possible. i'm just trying to get to the truth! are we ever going to know for sure? i'm not here to choose sides. i know it may seem like i hate Mayweather or something but I don't! the fans don't like to be lied to. reporters want to know what really happened to and they keep asking about it. and they should! We already know about the Canelo statement in 2011. But Ellerbe was asked about this and said something about an comment not in 2011, but a few weeks before negotiations where Canelo's trainer offered the fight to be at catch weight. All I'm trying to do is verify what he is saying so we know what really happened.

 

But who do you believe actually needed the catchweight? what is your gut feeling on this? why would the naturally bigger man choose to penalize himself if he doesn't come in at a lower weight?

It sounds like you don't remember Canelo's trainer saying this a few weeks ago like Ellerbe stated. Netiher do I. I'm seeking the truth here. Believe it or not I don't have a horse in this race.

 

I'm not going to lie. I have not been following the quotes past or present of the trainers and promoters of both fighters on this subject.

As far as Floyd and the 2 lb catchweight, I don't think Floyd needed the catchweight. I also believe that Floyd didn't want a Baldomir type situation/weight difference where he is outweighed by 20 lbs. Floyd couldn't even move Baldomir at all.

 

Ellerbe stated that there's something on boxing scene of Canelo's trainer where he offered the catchweight. He said don't take his word for it. So Ellerbe made it sound like this is an obvious thing to find but I attempted to search google to find what he was talking about, and couldn't.

I'm trying to verify what Ellerbe is saying, you get my drift? To find this thing on boxing scene like he said. And if we can't find such a statement, then who do you believe?

 

I just don't think that this is important enough to talk about since the fight is made. Floyd and his people obviously wanted the fight at 152, and Canelo agreed.

 

Had Canelo refused the fight at 152, I wouldn't have had a problem with that. He took the fight. It's just a shame that we have these Jr weight classes. Boxing needs to eliminate this ****. Then the top 10 in each weight class would have no choice but to face each other.

 

It's important because we're trying to find out who is lying. If Floyd and his people obviously wanted the fight at 152, then why did Ellerbe today say that "Canelo's management are the ones who asked for the catchweight". This is the CEO of Mayweather promotions. Don't you have a PR problem when the promoter is flat out lying to the fans?

When asked about the catchweight, Ellerbe called Canelo a liar, and Floyd was asked "Would you fight him at 154", he said "the weight is what it is" and started talking generally about negotiations back and forth. This is inconsistent with the May 8th boxing scene article where Canelo's team said they were not willing to consider a catch weight.

I'm not going to lie. When I watch this video, I sense fear behind those Mayweather sunglasses. Not fear from boxing Canelo necesarily, but fear from admitting the truth. He does not want to admit that it was him who wouldn't fight Canelo unless it was at a catchweight. When you watch that video, do you sense the same fear from Mayweather and Ellerbe, fear of having to admit that they wanted the catchweight?
