Floyd says that as part of his image.

Come on........do you realllllllly think he has 300 million dollars or has made that much?

Everything he says people disect it, I am a fan of his. But some of the stuff he says is just to get in peoples heads or bulid to his image.

I distinctly remember Roger during the Mayweather/Marquez 24/7 going "STRATEGY? (waves hand) You know wat dat mean in da hood? Dats a buncha bullll****." So it does puzzle me that he talks of a gameplan, maybe they don't go too into it. Or maybe the gameplan is used here more broadly. Who knows, if asked directly we might get a straighter answer because for all of his arrogance I don't think Mayweather has much to hide in that area. it's not like he gains or loses fans or haters on whether or not he strategizes via tapes or at all. who knows.

Yea I saw that too, one thing I know is Mayweather doesn't seem the type to come in under prepared for a fight so I'm unsure what they actually do go over. Whatever it is, it really really works!

Did I articulate it badly? I apologise... I was running out the door at the time. Anyway. My point is exactly what Bogotazo said about the Marquez 24/7. Roger says (re: studying tape, coming up wtih a strategy for each particular fight) that's bull****. You know what we call that in the hood right, bull****. Or something like that. Floyd also at some point says he never watches tapes. Never studies fighters. He figures them out in the ring. I always thought that was part of his greatness.

Now it turns out he does or his team does study fighters and come up with a strategy for each fight. My (poorly written) original post was just making the point that sure Floyd has tremendous powers of adaptation mid-fight, but making like he is so great he can just rock up to a fight and figure you out in the middle of it, because he doesn't need to analyse you beforehand, as he says, is complete horse ****.

Have you seen Roger Mayweather Vs JCC I and II? It's pretty obvious that strategy was not on the table there either.

The difference is that Floyd is that much better than his dad and Roger at the shoulder roll and that there hasn't been pretty much any fighters of JCC's calibre that Money has had to fight since 135 and before.

IMO when roger made the comment about developing a strategy and saying that was ''bull****" I think what he is saying is that you will not see him or floyd conducting themselves like marquez and nacho. i.e getting a sparring partner to imitate floyd or saying "do this like floyd or floyds gonna do this. Pretty much basing their whole training camp on what they expect floyd to do or to try to imitate them.

To meet doing that is bull**** because what if you go the whole camp training for what you expect him to do and then he gets in the ring and switches up. Then you got to adjust on the fly if you can.

Roger and floyd have both said that Roger watches tapes. They have admitted that but for floyd to say he doesnt doesnt mean its far fetched. He doesnt need to watch it. What i think happens is roger watches and ids weakness for instance a fighter with a lazy jab like N'dou. Roger probably worked the pull counter extensively in training to get floyd used to throwing. Probably worked the pull hook for someone like marquez.. but didnt really go out of his way to say "oh we have to do this for marquez" To be honest, Pac, probably doesnt watch tapes either. He leaves that up to his trainers.

See, I respectfully disagree with this. You're a fighter. You're going into a huge fight that you desperately want to win. Why don't you take a couple of hours and watch some footage of the guy you've got to beat? It makes no sense to me to hear that Roger watches Hatton video, sees that he is susceptible to the check hook, and then works the check hook in training so that Floyd is comfortable throwing it. You're telling me Roger wouldn't say hey floyd, look at this. He is vulnerable. He would just say hey floyd, he's vulnerable, trust me? Why? Makes no sense. These guys are not too busy to watch tape. Roger surely has some down time from training Floyd and pouring gasoline on boxing equipment and Floyd can't be gambling all day long.

You're telling me that when they are as Floyd says "going over the gameplan", there's not a TV in that room with Shane previous fights on? If there isn't I think that's pretty weak.

he did say he doesnt watch film because no two fights go the same and that he adjusts to what is happening in the fight.

its recognized that Floyd is one of the most brilliant fighters who can adjust while in mid-round.

I also believe he doesnt watch tapes to study a fighter because look how slow he starts fights off and i think that is primarily to figure the fighter out and to see what they are trying to do...then he adjusts and pours it on.

So does he watch fights of course is he concious as we are of what fighters strong points are of course he watches boxing as we do...but we do not study the fighters but most of us can tell u strong points and weaknesses of fighters we watch. You cant really gameplan for a fighter because more than likely that fighter will fight deffirently for you so that is why they say they dont study film.

so i can see this as being a honest statement.

I hear what you are saying...Check this out Margo and mayorga probably watched shane mosley's fight against cotto and said "this is what we got to do to beat him. Mosley apparently came out with a different strategy and thats why he served their ass...What about boxers who use a different trainer? That trainer is going to develop a dif strategy. At one point pac didnt utilize the right hand, Then for "that next fight" all of a sudden he had that right hand. Im sure the boxer that got whipped with it didnt see that when he reviewed the tapes. (I think it was EM)

Great fighters can change up there game plan and fight a different fight. For instance Marquez expected floyd to do the shoulder roll and he did, but there were times in the fight where floyd fought with both hands up and it confused marquez. He didnt know what was coming. It was a different look that he didnt see from studying mayweather.

Bottom line is this. Like "igotJUIC3" said, No two fights will be the same and floyd probably watches as the casual fan of boxing, but a fighter fights for his oppenent. What mosley did for margorito, floyd should base his game plan off of that because smm wont be able to assault pbf the same way that he did margo, so what does that mean? it means the same smm that fought margo wont be the same one fighting floyd....
