I think you would be surprised. Mayweather is a master of measuring distance, I can see pac getting hit flush any time he makes a mistake.

 

Was there a reason for those clips when discussing this boxing technique? I did not see a single jab to the body, which would have actually made it relevant to the topic.

An opponent would need to create the proper spacing by stepping back on his backfoot, and then counter Pacquiao with a right punch over the top (of Manny's left). Not really. Pac is a brawler, just like Mosley although with slightly better footwork. Mayweather will punish Pacman when they finally meet and make it look as easy as his fight with Hatton. :yep

Best answer for Pacquiao is a straight right hand, and Mayweather has one of the best in the business. Morales did not have the hand speed of a Mayweather or Pacquiao, but was able to land flush shots, setup with a couple of feints. He setup the feints with the jab throughout the fight.

People like to ignore this because "he's Manny Pacquiao," but the guy is still a southpaw and good straight right can cause a southpaw hell.

I would also be careful about jabs to the body on Pacquiao because of his great left hand. I would rather keep a high guard and work behind the stick.

Morales didn't whoop Pacquiao's ass. He only won by 2 points on all three cards. An ass whooping is what Pac did to Cotto.

That was a graet victory for Morales, probably the greatest of his career even though Pac was cut above the eye from a headbutt and also moving up to Morales' weightclass.

That being said, Morales scored more of his points with the flurries that he threw to follow up on his counter. Without those flurries Pac would still have won the fight. Morales was able to take Pac's best shots and then push him back.

Don't underestimate the importance that Morales' machismo played in winning the fight against Pac. It takes both technique and agression.
