Once May started utilizing his slick lateral movements in the 7th-9th against Hatton, Hatton could not do **** anymore.

Same thing happens this fight, Cotto dies to May's lateral movements.

Fight ends in the 10th just like the Hatton fight with the only difference being this time Cotto's head will hit the turnbuckle in the 9th.

Cotto is way better than Hatton ever was.

Allied to lateral movement, PBF has this punch called a 'check hook'...not many people know about this punch but I do, and have seen him use it before with devestating effect.

Hatton got tired that's why Floyd started to pick him off more and more. He gave Mayweather more time and space when his pace started to drop. Mayweather might of been winning anyway, but he was being made to fight at a faster pace than he was comfortable with. Also....Hatton got knocked out because he abandoned his game plan. Early on he was trying to feint & step off the line before attacking Mayweather, however once the point was taken he realized he was falling to far behind so abandoned that. If you watch the KO itself it occurs because Hatton comes in on the line, telegraphs a left hook, then Floyd steps off the line while simultaneously clumping him with the left hook.

Your also overlooking something..........Cotto is particularly good at cutting the ring off. He Wladimir, Hopkins are 3 of the best at that particular skill imo.

I don't think Floyd is mobile enough to out-maneuver someone who can cut the ring off like Cotto. As much as as people call him a "runner", he's not someone that boxes bouncing off their toes. He sets his feet before throwing. That doesn't mean he'll lose, but I'd be surprise if he tried to run circles around Cotto, because it doesn't seem to be in his nature.

I think it'll actually turn into Mayweather setting traps for Cotto. Miguel will think he's cutting the ring off when he's really following Mayweather and walking into right hands.

Then later Mayweather puts his guard up and walks Cotto down.

If Floyd wins, I see him doing that. Hopefully Cotto trains for a pace and mode of entry that isn't so linear and exploitable in terms of location.

    Sort of.

Obviously Cotto and Pacquaio are two very different fighters. Different punches, different foot movements etc would be needed for each of them :good
I'd have him come forward earlier with Pacquaio than I would Cotto.

I see. Floyd's plan for this fight as stated multiple times by him is to not be the one giving up ground. He wants to pop that cannon. I think Miguel will be the one using lateral movement and trying to outmaneuver Floyd. We'll see just how good Floyd is at cutting off the ring.

Cotto(e) doesn't have it in him to try boxing on his toes for the entire 12 against someone like Mayweather. He has been baited out of boxing mode multiple times throughout his career.

Floyd did plenty of inside fighting in his sparring footage. I think we'll see Floyd looking more like a swarmer and Cotto(e) a boxer this time around.

  14. mayweather is too much for cotto period. mayweather's a monster. i think he stops cotto. i just can't envisage a scenario in which cotto wins or has even limited success.
