Mayweather's legacy

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by KiwiMan, Aug 27, 2017.

Did Mayweather's legacy improve or worsen last night?

  1. Improved considerably. He beat a bigger, younger, fighter and breaks Marciano's record. 50-0!

    3.1%
  2. Improved a little, as per the above.

    15.0%
  3. No change - this was basically an exhibition fight.

    58.3%
  4. Worsened a little - see below

    9.4%
  5. Worsened considerably. An 0-0 novice got to the tenth round & won several rounds vs "The Best Ever".

    14.2%

No change at all. It was basically an exhibition fight.

McGregor proved he could hang with an ATG past prime boxer though so he deserves credit if anything.

Interesting take - how did McGregor have everything his way in terms of fight agreement? I was under the impression we saw a MMA fighter cross to pro boxing.

The bookies had the odds they had for very good reasons.

He ended his career by toying with and assaulting an Irish leprechaun. Can't get a lot better that that.

    Worsened.

Bringing in a 0-0 CAGE FIGHTER for such a milestone achievement is a joke.

Just another ploy by him that, on paper, looks brilliant, but hampers his legacy like so many fights have post 2007.

Sugar Mac is a legit ATG after doing what he did on Saturday night so a victory over him (regardless if was a massive event loss or not) has to add to Floyd's legacy.

Floyd beat the hell out of McGregor in the most embarrassing fashion that McGregor could lose. McGregor should be completely humiliated, but for some reason the press is letting him off the hook. I know why though.

They want him to fight the winner of GGG vs Canelo. And I bet you anything, the winner will call him out and McGregor will be stupid enough to take the fight.

He says at range, nobody can beat him. What he doesn't realize is that Chavez Jr. has about the same reach as McGregor, but is a hell of a lot tougher and a better boxer, yet he still got brutalized.

McGregor will be completely destroyed in the ring. It would be pathetic.

I'd better like to watch Floyd vs Thurman as Floyd's 50th fight.

I think even today's Floyd would've outboxed Thurman and won by decision.

And it would've been a win over a far better opponent.

Still the same. A safety first fighter, drug cheat and hype job who cherrypicked guys from divisions below him, drained others and avoided all prime fighters at their best weight for most of his career. No one will remember this fight at all.

GGG would genuinely take mcgregor out in 2 minutes at most, he has an iron chin, world level boxers punches dont effect ggg so mcgregor's little slap punches wouldn't have any effect on him, GGG would just walk forward and land those body shot bombs and that lethal left hook. Canelo would also ruin mcgregor in a round.

why are people ripping into a fighter that just proved wrong and gave a massive middle finger to the MMA lot. you know those guys that rip into boxers and boxing fans saying they dont know how to fight. He has given boxing a massive boost imo. The MMA fans who were squealing before the fight how mcgregor is going to beat floyd terribly were no where to be seen on sunday.

Floyd already surpassed marciano's record with his 49th win. Marciano's opposition for most of his career was terrible (albeit some good wins).

Floyd 100% deserves credit for get to 50 with no losses with the fighters he has fought
