That's what Mark Kram said. Cus D'Amato also noticed it.

Yeah, I don’t see anything exceptional about Norton’s resume outside of Ali.

Mayweather Jr . Is such a jackass
And deep inside, he knows his career is more smoke and mirrors, and little substance, especially above Jr. Welterweight, he trys to explain why he SHOULD be considered the greatest, because he never took a loss....
But like the magician, he distracts the newbies with his slight of hand , keeps them focused on the record only, but not the substance of it.
If Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Duran , Arguello etc Choose who they fought carefully, ( And not the best competition available)
They may have won a hundred straight fights...
    Unlikely you say?
Ray Robinson was 129 wins with 1 loss at one point of his career, and he was fighting everyone!!! Imagine if he were more selective?
May Jr. Your time has passed, enjoy your money, get on with your life. In the end , u beat them all anyway because you retired rich and healthy.
But no, you're not the greatest, not in the top 30 in my opinion.

Most of the accumulative damage boxers take in their careers is from their sparring and not necessarily the fights themselves.

Interesting that Floyd said they would never put a man with only 7 pro fights in against him. They had no problem putting a man with 0 pro fights in there for his last one.

Floyd took the concepts of evasion and avoidance of punishment to the hilt - by ducking and/or aging out his more threatening potential opposition. In those regards, he was masterful.

Norton is not exactly special, at least as not as good as Ali fans will tell you he was. He found his ticket and his management did their best to preserve Norton to get the money… Shot Quarry? Or maybe Jimmy Young? That’s all he has after an out of shape Ali officially, he MIGHT have won the third fight against a shot Ali but what’s that worth? lol. He wasn’t durable enough or good enough to have made his earnings any other way… Shavers, Bonavena, Prime Quarry, Chuvalo, Mac Foster, Frazier Foreman… any puncher off the top of my head who was a decent contender would’ve stopped him ever getting anywhere if he didn’t beat an out of shape Ali because of a silly in flaw in the way he fought.

To be fair, they put a McGregor in there as part of a gimmick fight. With Ali, a man with seven fights was seen as a legitimate threat in a real fight.

He still counts it as one of his 50 wins.

Could you imagine Floyd's record if he had to fight 8 times a year with those brittle hands? Robinson's 121-1 to start his career is much more impressive than Floyd's 49 -0 and McGregor

A modern version of Norton beating Ali would be something like Guido Vianello beating Usyk.

Heading into the Ali fight, Norton had pretty much done nothing but lose to Garcia by stoppage and beat Henry Clark.

Guido also lost a fight by stoppage earlier in career to Jonathon Rice. He then went on to lose a split decision to Efe Ajaba and beat Makhmudov by stoppage. He's probably a top 20 guy.

That injury doesn't make him less of a fighter. It just makes him unfortunate to have a hand problem.
