when he was pretty boy his left was his best. He was doing leaping left hooks all the time, left jabs to the body, left hooks to the body. Most of his KO's at the lower weights were by left hooks. He had a RJJ type of left hook, it's explosiveness was due mostly to his atheletic abilities. He smartly doesn't do many leaping lefts anymore as he isn't as quick as he used to be.. this is a issue that RJJ never learned, which is why he got KO'd by Tarver.

Anyone who's boxed know that it's not easy to throw a single right hand with power without throwing a jab first.
Technically your right hand is the farthest away from the opponent and easiest to spot.
Secondly when you throw a right hand with power it easy to get off balance because the necessary little step forward that you make while throwing a one-two is missing. In short, it requires exceptional coordination and footwork to throw single, hard right hands like Floyd does, land them and keep your balance at the same time.

 

thats the difference between a guy like roy jones and mayweather. mayweather has a brilliant boxing brain and knows how to adjust his style in order to win fights. his speed and power might start to diminish but he keeps winning because of his superior ring smarts.

Depending on who he is fighting he will either use his left hook or str8 right. Actually Floyd can throw every single shot from either hand with effectiveness and accuracy.

But really everyone falls for his right hand. He left hooked the crap out of Corrales, Gatti, and Hatton. His leaping left is quite good too.

Personally I like his uppercuts a lot.

 

His Most accurate hand is his right but his power hand has always been his left
