you know he offered castillo an immediate rematch, so that means he was really scared :huh

also, show me a boxer who has nothing but elite fighters (and not shot) on their resume

if floyd is guilty of what you say, so is everyone

According to *******s I suppose this will be the history since *******s don't know crap about boxing.

I have to agree. Before the Pac fight everyone made comment about his heart, size, and strength. Very little was said about his boxing ability or technique. Well heart does not typically win fights. And contrary to what *******s say about the whopping 4 pound difference between Floyd and JMM size does not win fights either.

    :good

    :good:good:good

He tried to fight Mosley but Mosley turned him down. Again in 2006 he had his sights on DLH or Mosley and went with the bigger payday. Arum protected Cotto from Floyd, and Marg wasn't worth the $$$ compared to DLH or Hatton so he went with the $$$. You would too.

Should Floyd have postponed retirement to fight PW? When you're ready to retire, I doubt you will postpone because some idiot thinks that you need to flip one more burger. It's never enough for you guys. If Floyd had fought Marg for less money you'd have said he ducked DLH. If he had fought PW you would have said he was ducking Cotto. The only one ducking now (as in refusing to fight) is Pacquiao. He is the

one on record saying that he won't fight. Floyd has agreed to everything else.

I get it. You feel that the drug testing is unnecessary. I understand. It wasn't fair when they accused Lance Armstrong either. But Armstrong took the test and proved the haters wrong. Manny refuses to test and refuses to fight.

I've ALWAYS been a fan of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring. I vehemently defended him when others accused him of "ducking". In the case of Margarito it was simple. Margo at THAT time was less marketable than a homeless man with down syndrome. There was no reason for PBF to take that fight. This, however is The Fight of The New Millenium. Mayweather's balking can be one of only THREE possible motives....

    1. Playing mind games with Pacquiao (brilliant move if it's the case-it's working!)
    2. A unique way to hype and market the fight (possible, if so we'll see if it worked)
    3. Mayweather DOES NOT want to fight Pacquiao

I read it, and I am not attacking you, but just showing it's not only him asking for big paydays, and "tune-ups."

Attack all you want if you disagree mate, I dont mind.

But you obviously miss the part where I said...

I said this about Floyd choosing lower risk options generally.

I also said in an earlier post on the first page.

In closing...Floyd has missed some fights that he probably could have got if he wanted to and that would reflect on him better today. But also its not like he is the only one and its just where boxing is at right now. :good

If May didn't want the fight he had ample opportunity to balk with
    The Pay Split
    The Weight
    The Gloves
    The $10 million weight penalty

But he didn't. He agreed to it all. On December 13th we had a fight to look forward to.

Freddie said that they had agreed to the testing:

    Everybody is happy right?

However on December 22nd something changed and that something was Pacquiao.

Is there such a concident that he does not fight the very best such as Mosley, Pac
or Paul william ? Why did he back out from a rematch against DLH after he won a split decision ?

The original post of this thread is refreshing. Facts are a lot of fun, I just have a hard time collecting them myself knowing they will be wasted on ******s.

Mayweather's personality can make him hard to like. I don't want to play amuture physiologist hear but the reasons may not be as simple as we think.
Should he have fought Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margrito and Shane Mosley in the past?
First of all Nither Cotto or Margrito were ever elite welterweights. Very good yes crowd pleasers yes, but elite no.

One can rightfuly question all of Margrito's career. He is serving a one year suspension for illigal hand wraps. He was defeted by his best opoent Paul Williams. In a fight that pretty much took place in his own back yard.
Margrito can apear to be a monster when he is fighting = or lesser compatition. There are ligimit questions to how ligimit those wins realy were. Put him in with someone who is = or better than him and he might win but he is no monster.

Miguel Cotto is another that Mayweather suposedly ducked. You can make the arugument that after he beat Mosley (by the narowest of margans) he deserved a match up With Mayweather. However that was a short window even if Mayweather had not retired. Also before he beat Mosley when did he deserve a shot at Mayweather? After he low-blowed his way to victory over Zab Judah?
Like Margrito Cotto is not an elite walterweight. They do not have the boxing skills to make for a compitive fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Shane Mosley in my opinion has the best chance to beat Mayweather and this includs Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao is faster but Mosley is fast and more ring savvy. There are some isues with matching Mosley and Mayweather up. First of all despite Mosley's skills and talent and they are among the best. For whatever reason he is a hot and cold boxer. Sometimes he brings his "A" game sometimes he dose not and his record shows it.

When should they have fought? Both became Champions in 1998. Mosley at 135 and Mayweather at 130.

While Mosley had some good wins his first elite win was in 2000 at 147 over Oscar De La Hoya. In 2002 he lost twice to Vernon Forest. After that he moved up to 154. He beat De La Hoya again but lost twice to Winky Wright. Since 2005 he has fought at both 154 and 147. He has some good wins but he was also beaten by Cotto. He is sechuled to face Ande Breto in a month.

Mayweather also became a champion in 1998 when he beat Genaro Hernadez. His only prior defete was to Oscar De La Hoya. Mayweather's first truly elite win was against Diego Corrales in 2001 at 130. Mosley was fighting at 147 at the time. In 2002 Mayweather had his two bouts with Jose Luis Castillo. The first many people fell that Castillo won. This was at 135. 2002 is the same year that Mosley lost twice to Forest. In 2004 Mayweather moved up to 140. He beat a still very good Arturo Gatti in 2005. He moved up to 147 in 2005 qnd has fought their with the exciption of his 154 bout with De La Hoya.

Mosley's best win besides Margrito in this time would be either one of his wins over Fernado Vargas or his win over Ricardo Mayorga. All 3 were at 154.

I think a future match up is very possible but where in the past would have matched them up?

Next lets look at the boxers that Mayweather did fight at 147 as well as 154.
    1. Sharmba Mitchel. Mitchel was a good but not great boxer who had been a 140 champion. This is by no means a great or good match up but it was his first fight at the weight.
Result. An easy win for Mayweather but that was what it was suposed to be TKO 6.
    2. Zab Judah. Had Judah beaten Carlos Baldomir like he was expected to than this would be Mayweather's greatest victory at least at or above 147 to date. Judah was considered a highly skilled and talented boxer. He had recently knoked out his biggest ravel Cory Spinks in Spinks home town. Even after he lost to Baldomir he was still being given a chance to beat Mayweather because of his own talent and skills.
Result. Judah gave mayweather probblems in the early going but Mayweather adjusted and took the fight over. 119-109, 116-112 and 117-111.
    3. Carlos Baldomir The man who upset Judah. No he did not have the best record at 43-9-6 but he had not lost since 1998 this bout was in 2006. He did have 2 draws but no losses. That is about 8 years without a loss. After beating Judah and before facing Mayweather he also beat Gatti by TKO 9. Baldomir might not be a great boxer but he earned this fight.
Result. Easy win for Mayweather. 120-108, 120-108 and 118-110.
    4. Oscar De La Hoya @154. This was a ligamit 154 fight not a catchweight fight. De La Hoya may have seen better days and he had recently had problems at 160, but at 154 he was the best at the weight not named Shane Mosley.
Result. Mayweather who gave up 4 Lbs weighing in at 150. Lost the opening rounds, but as the fight went on he adjusted and won a split decision 116-112, 115-113 and 113-115.
    5. Ricky Hatton. Hatton's previous career at 147 was his win over Luis Collazo. Collazo might not be an elite 147er but he is diffcult to beat. He suffered a ko loss in 2002 and besides that only Mosley had been able to beat him convcinlly. Hattons bigest wins were over Kostya Tszyu. Cittictcs say he was old but he had been beating good opoents up to the Hatton fight. Right before he fought Myweather he beat Castlillo in 4 rounds.
Hatton was the best boxer at 140 undefeted. Despite his limited experance at 147 he was as good if not better of a match up in terms of chalanging Mayweather as Cotto and margrito would have been and did better in the acatul fight than either of them would have.
Result. Hatton had the early lead before mayweather took over. This is common in Mayweather fight as he adjusts during the fight to his opoent. Like I said Hatton is a good boxer and made it an enteraining fight. But he is not as good as Mayweather (few are). Mayweather stops the previously unbeaten Hatton in 10 rounds TKO 10.
    6. Juan Manuel Marquez. Going in Marquez was considered the 2nd or 3rd best boxer in the world by most and the best by some. Criticts like to point out that Marquez is a light weight and Mayweather weighed in 2 lbs over an agreed to 144. I agree that it made a diffrence in the fight. However not enough of a diffrance to changed the out come of the fight. Had Mayweather weighed in at 144 or less had Marquez been light walterweight or a walterweight. The diffrance in the match would have been 2 rounds. That means marquez would have won two more rounds. That means instead of winning 12-0, 11-1 and 10-2. Mayweather would have won 10-2, 9-3 and 8-4.
Result. There was no slow start for Mayweather in this one he beat Marquez from the first round to the last round. 120-107,119-108 and 118-10.

In my opinion Mayweather's Reputation is undeserved.
