MBS: Hiroto Kyōguchi vs. Tetsuya Hisada RBR

Maybe the biggest shot Kyōguchi's taken professionally?

 

Round 3

Kyōguchi is stepping to his left and hooking as HIsada is simultaneously pumping in his 1-2 from medium-long range, and their arms clatter together and deflect. Both are keeping their fists glued tightly against their faces, taking short carousel rides while pecking and looking for a spot to land the jab and bust an opening apart with combinations. Both too defensively responsible to let the other get through with much. Hisada jumps in while Kyōguchi lies in a crouch and chops him across the face a couple of times, but Kyōguchi answers with a couple of big uppercuts to drive Hisada backward.

It wasn't just one big shot, C... he landed that big right hand twice (although the first time was the really big one that landed perfectly flush) and then a slew of jabs in the final half-minute...and it wasn't like Kyōguchi mangled him in the first two minutes. He won them, yes, but not in such untouchable dominant fashion that Hisada couldn't steal it back with a flourish consisting of a hurtful bomb or two and thirty seconds of ring generalship behind the jab..

 

Round 4

Kyōguchi holds up the guard, letting Hisada knock at the door with his jab, but Hisada is warily ceding ground as Kyōguchi unpredictably veers to either side and then swoops in with powerful hooks downstairs. Kyōguchi forcing Hisada into exchanges into the middle of the ring and landing a line drive right hand from a crouch, sometimes obstructed by Hisada's arms but often landing on his sternum or throat. Hisada forced onto his heels even though he's firing back where he can.

Round 5

Kyōguchi jabs into Hisada's elbows, pinning them into his stomach and effectively immobilizing him momentarily, then springs up off his toes with a big hook at the head. Kyōguchi setting lots of traps, using punches as Trojan Horses to unfold his real offensive plans. Hisada seems wise to all his machinations, just a matter of having the speed & firepower to nullify him - and he is still getting hit plenty by the prime, almost decade-younger champion. Hisada trades with hooks & crosses in the middle of the ring and gets a few licks in but is taking most of the damage.
