What seperates Hatton from Cotto? Quite a bit, but the most important thing that seperates the two is the jab.

Unless ya'll were blind, (Floyd lovers), Cotto landed the jab against Mosley, arguably one of the best fighters of this generation, more than any other punch thrown.

Moreover, it was thrown with great timing and accuracy, and he often used it as a power shot.

Hatton on the otherhand, while initially taking angles, still led without throwing a jab for the majority of the fight. In fact Hatton's arsenal was quite limited as he threw a lot of left hooks and then went in for the clinch.

Cotto operates with room. He takes advantage of distance and opens up when he's close instead of going straight for the clinch. I know he had several clinches with Mosley, but you could argue that Mosley is more dangerous offensively from the inside than Floyd is.

Floyd is great defensively on the inside by giving his opponent very little room to operate and covering up excellently, but he's at his best at mid range where he can deploy his laser right hand.

Cotto negates this somewhat by coming in with the jab, and with his head down, and gloves up, which is something that Hatton neglected to do and ultimately cost him the fight.

So for ya'll that are like Cotto is the same as Hatton, bla bla bla, you need to learn more about how important it is to throw the jab, regardless of your stature.
