McCain has long campaigned for a commison for boxing to look after the boxers. The man is clearly a boxing fan and a fan of justice and honesty from what I know of him. I was a bit of an Obama supporter but McCain is 1 of the better politicians America has seen and surely would have done a better job than Bush

George Bush jr already pardoned Johnson. This must be an old quote from John McCain.

Johnson is guilty of a laundry list of despicable things. Among then are beating up women, running a ***** house, and fleeing the country on a bond. A pardon of a crime excuses a person legally, but the crimes Johnson committed throughout his life should stain his legacy.

When the country needed Joe Louis to defeat Max Shcemling, Johnson being a selfish ***** wanted Schmeling to win so he could " be the only black champion " How anti American.

The top historian on black prize fighters ( Kevin Smith ) thinks Johnson title reign was a negative one. Indeed it was. The color line was drawn too many times, the title fights were short or lack luster, and there were too many allegations of fixes. Some champion in and out of the ring.

Is there a latest update on this? Last I heard was that both Houses in the US senate had approved the pardon in July but as of October, Obama had still not made a final decision.

This isn't out of left field, I've been hearing this for a couple of years already. Not sure why McCain is making this his issue, but he certainly didn't just start doing so.

As to a pardon already being issued, I googled and didn't find anything to support this assertion. In fact, an article last month seems to indicate the issue is alive and well.
