Yesterday good old Oliver McCall won the vacant IBF Intercontinental Heavyweight title by defeating "not so" Fres Oquendo by SD. ■ The "Intercontinental" championships have historicly been a stepping stone for a world title fight. ■ Oliver McCall has one of the best chins in boxing history and has never been down, only stopped once by mental breakdown (Lewis - McCall II). Please don't put us trough W. Klitschko pounding a then 46 year old McCall for 12 onesided rounds in a defence of his IBF (IBO, WBO and Ring also) World Championship. Or even worse, Oliver getting lucky "Lewis I style" and having another old, unworthy champion on our hands.
david haye could fight him, in england. the british public would go for this, they've heard of mccall from him fighting lennox lewis and frank bruno. yeah he's now 46 and well past his best, but that doesnt matter.
McCall eats haye's best shots for breakfast. Then beats both klits and loses the titles to commander vander in a war :good
Why not? If that bum McCall can knock out glass-jawed fraud Lewis then why can't he beat up shot to **** Corrie Sanders leftovers? Hell, Sanders was old/shot/previously stopped when he beat prime Wladimir. Let them fight, it adds nothing to either man's legacy. Wlad's been pummeled three times by bums and McCall is 350 with half of his teeth, has had ten losses including a nervous breakdown and nobody cares. An old drug addict and a guy with toilet paper skin and a glass chin.
Lol scathing. It's not a great state of affairs when we're talking about old men getting beaten up. It's been said before but what the fook happened to the heavyweight division?
Nice summation. I'd be up for seeing him fight Wladimir, why not? Not many other boxers out there who seem to want to fight either of the brothers.
I've seen a few interviews of McCall and in person he comes across as really nice, open, and weirdly enough, remarkably sharp and intelligent. He's not the most skilled guy but he's amazingly physically gifted - his punch resistance is insane, he's incredibly strong, and he has great stamina. He's not exactly elite but he's got a lot of tools that keep him floating around even well into his 40s. If he earns a shot then fine, let him have it - he's more deserving than people like Chisora and Harrison and would probably put up a much better fight. Haye would probably avoid him like the plague, knowing that he couldn't stop him.
It has obviously imrpoved from the oh so glorious 90's, when the 45 year odl guy actually became champion against the puffed up LHW who beat the supposed ATG steroid addict without even trying in the early rounds....that 45 year old grandpa then got a gift against Axel Schulz who was dominated into retirement by a pre - prime Wlad, the current champion. Enough with this complaining about the current era. You can punch holes into any era of the HW division if you want to.
That's because there's never been a good HW era because they're all lazy fatasses who build their records on cans. Joe Louis and the bum of the month club and fatass Tony Galento and Baer losing to the corpse of never-was/man with womanly nickname Braddock. Primo the big lumbering muscle-man **** who needed his fights fixed. Marciano the guy who threw hay-makers at old light heavyweights and Joe Louis' corpse and got praised for it. Ali, who had to poison Frankenstein Foreman, beat a midget with one eye AFTER losing to him and waiting for Frankenstein to make him "damaged" goods, then Ali loses to some shitty novice in Spinks. Then you've got Holmes who couldn't even fight all the other champions in his own era (as pathetically non-dominant as the Klitschkos) and got schooled by a light heavyweight who eventually got stopped in seconds by another little muscle-bound midget. ALL HEAVYWEIGHT ERAS SUCK ASS. ....As do all eras of all divisions.
