shame that McCall is out! He would be real test for watch and if McCall lost he could retire or if he wins get a title shot!
What bad news...was really looking forward to this fight. This Gavern guy fought Jonathan Banks to a draw & Banks was brutilized by Adamek. I think Wach should take care of business Sat night & maybe even pull off another KO like he did vs McBride??? (KO of the Year, BTW) Anyway, its still a disappointment. Wanted to see what Wach could do with McCalls granite chin & if Wach could hold up against McCalls power.
i forgot about Banks draw but he also fought the then unblemished Walker to a draw and beat a streaking Quezada Gavern is dangerous for anybody though some have beat him with ease others havent The only footage i saw of Wach was his win vs McBride which doesnt say much for me I think Wach if he is as good as he is being built up to be should be able to win without much trouble but we will see
What happened? Did Team Wach toss Ollie some step aside money or what? Oliver was going to tap that arse! Gavern might do it as well but he is a step down from McCall. I was really looking forward to this fight by Gavern is a nice replacement. I'll favor Wach now.
He's a god damned tough 21-8. He'd beat the hell out of the 35-0 DaveRod. Don't be surprised if Wach still loses this.
you tend to think all heavyweights who suck are either ducked or better than their losing record. give it a rest rummy:hi:
I was 3rd place in the RC Prediction league last month. Put up or shut up foo. I would have won the month if Ossie Duran was not ripped off in another of my great 8 loss fighter picks. Julie Lederman can go to hell. I know my boxing.
Cmon Mess have you ever watch JG fight. The guy bumrushes with his head down......Wach will be catching him, and EARLY with power R hands on the top of the head. And Rodriguez......fuggedabodit. One well time L hook, and it ova!:good
apparently he was tko'd in 7 rounds by Franklin Lawrence 14-2-2 2 fights ago...but im sure messer stick has a good flimsy excuse for that
Gaverns got a bit of a cult following on the web......though I'd never guess Messer to be involved, and I call trolling. But like Minto, Calloway, Maddalone etc, the cult following sometimes takes it a bit far. I first saw Chauncey Welliver on the Vitali Peter UC, and like many of his fans, was INSTANTLY impressed by what seemed to be a horribly unfit, but slick as **** fighter. Messer is his biggest fan, and I'm a big fan too, probably upset Welliver wasn't offered this fight. I'd also like to have seen Rodriguez get the fight. Two heavy hitting big men, decent chins, and relatively untested. Would definitely be a career defining moment IMO. Seem me being a fan of Rodriguez might have displaced some of my loyalty for the Big Panda, but in the end, I think both guys are gonna make a run at the titles just as Wach, Mitchell and Helenius will.:deal
I know Gavern can be beat but the man took out Ding A Ling unlike Gomez. He should have beat Banks, got the draw, he got a hot Quezada before he reeled off the rest of his losses. He has fought a ton of good HW's and his results prove he is a very live dog. This fight however, the notice is pathetic. I hate how these promoters work. They probably planned to use McCall for his name to hype the card, and then pull a last minute switch. Probably gave Oliver a few quid to have issues. Bahumbug. I am a big Welliver fan. He has losses cause he will fight guys and always has been willing. Just like Gavern though not as extreme. But he also was screwed by short notice against Solis. When they do this **** to guys, it makes an already steep hill a mountain to climb. And it rips us fans off. But for David Rodriguez...I don't care for him. I've interviewed the guy on the radio before and he is a decent dude but he is only undefeated because he has never fought anyone close to top level. He went crazy demanding Klits after Owen Beck. He is pure BS. Though he is a big guy and can punch. But, I suspect he cannot take a decent punch. Gavern probably won't win, I won't pick him to win this week, wouldn't bet any money on it, but, if he was on top of training he may win this. I'd ballpark him, on short notice, to have about a 20-25% chance to win this. With a full camp and full notice, I'd put him slightly under 50% chance to win.
You know as well as I why Rodriguez hasn't stepped up. It's not him or Zeferino. They're making the calls, but aint getting the fights. I'm fairly SURE el Nino woulda took that 30K for Monsour in Dec had the call gone his way. Yeah Panda's the bigger name for sure, and would likely deserve a bigger payday for that fight, but Rodriguez is in a simlar position and has done similar things with his purse splits in attempt to get the Arroelas, Boystovs etc into the ring with him.
As long as I have followed DaveRod, a long time, he has not taken a chance all these years. If he is trying now, seriously, I wish him luck. In Texas alone. Can we see Steve Collins? Eugene Hill? Travis Walker? Molina vs him to see Arreola would be a ticket. He should have fougth somebody man. The closest he came to making fights with Top 15 guys was JD Chapman and Donnell Holmes....like 3-4 years ago. Rick Dyer was fed to him when those were close to happening with Scott Hirsch. He's had so long man. Gavern is IMO the much more proven fighter when compared to Rodriguez. I'd bet Gavern in that match, especially if he was given some notice, for once. I'd like to see Rodriguez vs Welliver. Jan 19th in New Zealand? Welliver Promotions may be interested.
