February 7, 1997 Lennox Lewis 29 -1 (24 KO) vs Oliver McCall 28-6 (20 KO) Vacant WBC Heavyweight Championship. WBC Championship was vacated by Mike Tyson. McCall landed a dismal 26 punches in the fight. During the fourth round, McCall began to leisurely stroll around the ring, prompting Lewis to chase him. McCall later claimed he was employing a Rope-A-Dope style. During the one minute rest between the third and fourth round, McCall refused to go to his assigned corner, opting to spend the break walking around the ring. McCall displayed the same antics between the fourth and fifth round, causing referee Mills Lane to escort a physically crying McCall back to trainer George Benton. Halfway through Round four, Mills Lane halted time, and asked McCall if he wanted to continue. The fifth round began, similar to the fourth round; Lewis landing power punches, McCall walking aimlessly around the ring. Mills Lane had seen enough and halted the fight. The fight was stopped less than one minute into the fifth round, with Lewis being granted the WBC Championship Belt [yt]pFTqtUGwjho[/yt]
Lewis was WBC #1 & McCall was WBC #2 ranked. Tyson chose to fight Seldon instead, prompting the WBC to enlist Lewis vs McCall for the vacant belt...!!! And why a No Contest...??? Not Lewis's fault that McCall was a crying drug addict that refused to engage in the fight...!!!
Really funny how Lennox is afraid to engage McCall who's crying and having a nervous breakdown. Timid Lewis!
