I met the man in your Avatar back in '95 after the Ruddock-Morrison fight in KC.. We were actually leaving the fight and my buddy spotted him across the street and we rushed over to him, immediately like 3 or 4 guys moved towards us like they thought we were up to something, we stopped and said we just wanted to see Mr. Hearns.. Tommy sort of shook his head and they backed up we got close to him he held his hand out assuming that we wanted an autograph so my buddy handed him his fight program he had bought that night, someone handed him a pen or something and he started trying to write, it wouldn't work, not sure if the pen was bad or if the wax like finish on the program made it impossible to sign, either way it didn't happen, he held his hand out again to see if we had something else maybe for him to sign (we didn't) we were just like froze overcome by the moment we said nothing just kind of smiled and like laughed he looked up and kind of smiled also still he had not uttered a word but he was very inviting, I finally came back to earth and spoke I said so are you planning on fighting Duran (Duran was on the card as well) I was assuming that was why he was there he smiled and said I think that might be in my plans, he gave me a little tap on the shoulder turned and walked off.. Though we didn't have much to say to him, got no autograph, had no damn camera it is still vivid in my mind, he seemed like a really cool guy, he is one of my all time favs so it was super cool to just be standing next to him.. Ironically earlier in the night Alonzo Highsmith (NFL) who was also on the card was like 5 feet from us outside the Arena like warming up but we didn't realize it was him we didn't know he was even going to be on the fight card lol..

That is a nice story. I never met Tommy. I would like to. Spoke to him on the phone once. Most fighters are nice, just a few like Holyfield have not been.
