Good set-up. You can see McCallum kind of dip as if to go to the body, before bringing the punch upstairs. Curry bit for the feint, and took a step back- directly into range of the pay-off punch.

Beautiful set up. Body shots had Curry covering up going in and coming out. When he finished, he observed his work for a split second- BOOM, lights out! What makes you back up from a hooker with hands down a bit? Body shots.

If you look at the exchange before the one where the KO happened. You will see MM end it with a l/hook to the body. He rolled in the same way again in the next exchange only this time Curry left him a gaping opportunity for the jaw, so McCallum switched upstairs and took it. Perfect!
I think Curry's success he was having led to the KO, in becoming over-confident and overly pleased with his work. But McCallum likely would have landed it at some point anyway.
    Clever and classy fighter McCallum.

in that fight Mike was just too big and strong for Curry. 15 rounds is a long time for Curry to go without really being big enough. Had Curry been his welterweight self at 154 he might have had a better chance to beat Mike, but Mike was always a better more rounded fighter than Curry. Also, in both his losses in 1986 and 1987, Curry had some trouble with the fact that he kept his feet too wide apart.

I do believe size had a lot to do with it.

If the fight had ended later on due to a grinding down kinda thing then I could see how size fit into the equation. Landing a big, loopy, out of the blue punch has nothing to do with size, though, and McCallum's size certainly didn't seem to be doing him too many favours prior to that. Curry's movement was making sure of it.

Ive been watching a little of McCallum lately and i dont think hes gets enough mentions in the classic. Only lost 5 fights, 3 of which were in his last 4 fights ever, at lightheavy and Cruiser, and against a good RJJ and Toney. No shame there. Oh, and he was over 40 then. The Curry KO wasnt lucky at all, it was a cracking looping left that landed perfectly. Just watched his 2nd round KO of julian jackson. Man , that jackson had bad intentions with every right hand he threw in that fight (and every other i suppose). Collins gave him an underated decent fight too, although it was always Mikes

Watching the replay McCallum lands a right to the body than sees an opening for the left hook. Unless a boxer swings with his eyes closed and lands in the right spot. There is no such thing as a lucky punch. McCallum saw his oppertunity and seezed it.

If you watch, Curry made a mistake, but McCallum gets fall credit for capitalizing on it.

Curry threw the left hook but stood there admiring his work whilst pulling out straight on the line, but he also had his head high whilst pulling out.

Amir Khan made a mistake against Prescott, it wasn't a lucky shot, cause Prescott took what was given to him, he capitalized on what was presented to him, same as McCallum, so he gets full credit imo.

I agree McCallum undoubtedly had the size advantage. But saying that i think he would of likely beaten Curry without it.
Totally agree about his feet too.

It wasn't a set up-Mccallum took advantage of a Curry mistake.
I like Mccallum but you guuys are full of ****-its not like he had Curry covering up from an effective body attack-Curry made a mistake and Mccallum took advantage of it-Noticed Curry had raised his chin in the air due to the swelling and Mccallum took advantage of it.Curry was such a shame as a boxer-fell apart after 1 loss and was never the same.:deal

What about them? Curry started dominating the fight convincingly in those rounds.
