McCline says he's likely to fight on the RJJ-Trinidad undercard. He says he wants to fight either James Toney, Kali Meehan, Andrew Golota, John Ruiz or Mike Mollo. Who should he fight? I think he should fight James Toney. Simply because Toney is my favourite fighter and has a very good chance of winning this one if he can get in decent shape. I know McCline isn't the best HW in the world, but had a good showing against Peter and did well in the 3 rounds he had against Valuev, so a win against him would make Toney move up in the ratings again. Also because Toney is the biggest name among these HWs, maybe with Golota. Nobody but masochists wants to see John Ruiz. Another thing is that Toney, like RJJ, is a middleweight & supermiddleweight legend from the 90s and there was a big rivalry between these two fighters. Having Toney and RJJ fight on the same card in 2008 would be great. Btw, JT and McCline should have fought each other back in 2004, but the fight didn't come off because of Toney's injury.
I think he should fight Ruiz. If I'm not mistaken, Golota is already slated to face Mollo, but I'd actually prefer Golota fighting Toney, Meehan, or even a rematch with Ruiz.
Actually, Golota needs to utilize good match-making to give him the best chance possible to land another title shot.
He isn't on the list, but Golota would be a doable "name" win. Toney too, but i'd like to see Toney retire. I voted for Ruiz, although i don't think McCline can beat him. Ruiz has an ugly style and will use the fact that McCline falls asleep somewhere past the 3rd.
Meehan... He is back on the winning roll.. After a decent stoppage of Davarryll... Why not Jameel... Jameel was a c class heavyweight in 2000 .. He beat Al Cole then Mike Grant... His stock rose and we had a B class heavy.. He then grabbed wins over Goofi and Briggs . and we then had a A- rising star. He got a chance against a top class Wlad and he fell short.. Jameel came again . he ressurected himself with a win over Boswell then had poor losses to Lawrence and Brock...... a year or two on from a Close one with Byrd he showed a flash of courage against Peter.. Meehan is a great next move, Meehan always showed sparks of pro savvy and that would compliment Jameels seasoned approach... Who knows..?? Once again we have a class heavyweight on his best day..
