Whats your point Flint? Benn just happened to have a bigger heart than G man. And Lacy was a genuine talent, but unfortunately for him he was too scary for his own good and when a genius is scared he produces his most potent magic. You cant blame a guy for losing to Calzaghe.

I think the Americans were right to hype thier men, they were both exellant fighters, and they both helped create special nights, i mean the Americans could say the same about us with say Hameed. Fair enough he never lost to an American but he lost in a big fight in America.

I see what your saying but thats the Americans for you, i would'nt take it personally man. Without the hype it would'nt be asmuch fun. And the Americans kinda have a right to expect that thier men are great coz the Americans do produce so many top, top guys and that has to be respected. However i understand it can be a little tiresome at times but it's the nature of the beast with them, it's who they are, nothing to take to heart though.

No, you just stated that he wasnt rated at all, at the time, and thats not true.

In answer to your other question: McClellan is perhaps a little overrated but certainly not in the Lacy league IMO. He is a far better boxer then Lacy. As I previosly stated Mcclellan was a middle not a SM as well.

 

I noticed Flint has absolutely nothing to say about Hamed, Hatton, Junior Witter being utterly exposed by average Tim Bradley, Gavin Reese, etc.....

I was talking specifically about hype though, with Hameed, yeah he only lost in a respectable'ish fashion but the hype that followed Hameed was astronomical. Yeah he totally smoked the best America had to offer at that weight but he still lost on American soil in a biggish way totally derailing a hype train bigger than the one in undersiege 2.

 

I said McClellan wasn't really overrated at the time.

Now, since his career ended prematurely and tragically, people tend to overrate him.

 

Fair enough, but I just stated that he was rated as no 1 in the world at middle and the 7'th best fighter at any weight in the entire world at that time. He couldn't have really been rated much higher at the time.

He was rated above Hopkins - today people don't rate him above Hopkins.

 

Yeah mate that is true, i think it was a 50/50 split. Half of us loved him half of us hated him. For the rest of the world the splits like 5/95.

I loved Naz coz i could see his genius but i'll be honest i wanted him to take a hiding. I hoped it would actually focus his ass but he was so egotistical it broke him. I should't have wished for it man, i miss him.

But i hear what your saying, that the American boys go overbored and start believeing thier own hype a little more than anyone else. Its annoying but like i say thats who they are. About 50% of the time thier right which is more than the rest of us. But yeah it can be repatative and so obviously no true but thats where the fun is in bamming them up after.

But i'd be very carefull bamming up the Americans, they'll always find someone thats the real deal, they do have the skill, heritage, mentality, the talent pool and most importantly.....the money.

 

1. They were ranked as world class boxers/fighters, which they were, you can be a world class boxer and lose to another world class boxer that is better or got the style to beat u. The fact you included 1 43yo ATG Hopkins in this category is laughable
