Paul McCloskey hasnt fought anyone decent in the world top 15, He should get a couple of good fights before trying to get a pay day.

Looks like McCloskey wants a pay day.

I think McCloskey needs to step it up now. I think he is ready for Malignaggi or Olusegun. They would be tough fights but he is capable. Maybe Juan Urango too.

Jennings and Lockett were both #1 contenders.

The Haye vs Harrison fight is largely regarded as a joke.

McCloskey needs to get some victories under his belt to earn a shot.... or manoevre himself into a shot at the WBC through his Euro reign and look for it down the line.

GBP are only going to put Khan in with big names from hereon, the largely unknown EBU holder is hardly going to be anywhere near the top of their list.

Hopefully whoever is in charge of McCloskey realises this and takes a risk, for short money or whatever to get his name out there.

Those people you mentioned are just to skilled and powerful for the fragile and ageing McCloskey. McCloskey should start with someone like Salita.

Yeah start with Salita, I rate McCloskey the same as Salita.

MBaye is shot to pieces he wouldnt last 6rds with Paul. Paul deserves his shot at a title now, he has went down the proper route British and European first. What did Khan do to get his shot:huh, hes wasnt even fighting at lightwelter weight and he still got a crack at a title:patsch

Lockett and Jennings were mandatorys and the Jennings fight proves my point of a gimmee after a brutal loss which Cotto was coming off when fighting Jennings.

He fought ***en as a builder like Cotto v Jennings. Khan is a HBO fighter do you think they will pass a fight v McCloskey :rofl.

Carefully managed like every other fighter the guy is 23 ffs, hahaha some haters on here make me laugh your going on as if he has been champion for about ten years.

He has been world champ for 18 months and fought Kotelnik-Malinaggi-Salita and now Maidana that resume in 18 months is decent, the guy has gone to the USA to fight the best at age 23 and not many fights in, compare it to Hatton and Calzaghe who were fighting bums of the week for years. Fighting McCloskey would be a joke at this moment in time.

I'd love to see it as an Irish/English match up and I'm a big fan of McCloskey's, he's slick, entertaining, strong and I find his style really pleasing on the eye.

But imagine the stick Khan would get if he fought an 'unknown' in McCloskey. Perhaps if Khan does get that loss many see as inevitable - I simply don't know but wouldn't rule it out - but there are a few match-ups left for Dudey before this one.

Come on lads, Lockett being the WBO mandatory was the most dodgy thing in years, that was a pitiful match-up. The WBC had mysteriously insert him into their rankings so that they could even sanction it as a defense.

Fair enough, I didn't know that but they were both very poor opponents for world title fights, Khan V McCloskey would not be such a mismatch, as much as people would like to think it would be. I'm not a hater but for you as a Khan fan to be saying an undefeated fighter who's won the British and European titles should earn a title shot, is a bit ironic! You have to admit that Khan's opposition before Kotelnik was below average. He is a world champion now so of course he has to up his level of competition but he most certainly did not deserve a world title shot off the back of beating Oisin ***an and what should have been a no contest against Barerra.

First off I don't think it would be a brutal mis match but I am saying they are on total different levels at the moment McCloskey needs to fight someone to get Khan's attention.

We all no Khans level was weak prior to Kotelnik but sometimes in boxing you get your chance for different reasons Khans being he was a household name becasue of the Olympics lost of fighters get shots from there name rather than what they have done: Dela Hoya, Vargas to name two. But McCloskey is just not relevant at all or on Khan's radar.

Khan UD, but I would see McCloskey causing him problems...

Not gonna happen though unless McCloskey ups his level of opposition again...

Not a fight I would like to see. McCloskey needs to fight some good domestic guys.

Your right, he should follow Khans example, oh hang on:lol:. Khan a career lightweight gets his crack by defeating nobody. Paul as undefeated European champ deserves his chance, simple as:deal. Whether he wins or not is another thing, but i personally think he can.

So you think the world would rather see McClosky v Khan that Khan v the elite he will be fighting now?

Only way this fight happens if Khan gets spraked by Maidana and even then unlikely
