To be fair I have only seen McCloskey box three times but I really don't see how he is deserving of all this hype? Sure he looks decent against low level domestic opposition but until he steps up and looks impressive against a top twenty world class fighter then an accurate assessment of where he is in the division cannot be made. A fight against Kotelnik next might be one fight too soon level wise? Maybe Malignaggi or Kendall Holt next then someone like Kotelnik. McCloskey does some good things and looks very confident in the ring. I don't think his age will be an issue for a few years yet either. Mind you he can't hang around over these next two years career wise if he wants to get a crack against the top guys in the division. Maybe not as over hyped as Kell Brook though.

I didnt say that, and Im well aware of the boxing politics of the situation, but that doesnt make it anymore right that Paul should be excluded because he hasnt got Warren or GBP behind him. A lot of you boys are talking in terms that Paul is unworthy, and must do this and defeat him and so forth. Its all bollocks when you consider Khans record before his title fight.:deal

mccloskey appears to have the talent to do very well.

just cos khan is there doesn't mean mccloskey can't get there his own way.

however, i think it's an ugly matchup. mccloskey would match up better with the ultra aggressive bradley. a better contrast of styles.

Khan KO before the 6th round, McCloskey has not proven himself anywhere near Khan's level. Please dont crucify me Irish fans;)

Khan would handle McCloskey very easily, probably before the 6th round.

you think Olusegun is more SKILLED then McCloskey?
I know Urango has power but Styles make fights. I'd fancy McCloksey in it but I'm not disagreeing it would be dangerous. In fact anyone McCloskey fights in the top 10 will be dangerous given his low hands style.

McCloskey would take Khan out pretty handily within 8 rounds. I'd like to see Paul fight Kotelnik and get a fight with Devon Alexander or Bradley, bith of whom I rate more highly than Khan. I dont see Khan getting through his fight with Maidana without getting hit flush on the chin and leaving the ring on a stretcher.

I like your confidence but dont you think he should fight someone in the top 20 before he has a world title tilt?

The way things are in that division at the minute, he'll not get a crack at Khan unless he is Khans mandatory for a year or more, Alexander hasnt fought his IBF mandatory for a long time and I cant see any of the top 3 risking a fight with anyone until the top 3 belt holders have fought each other. Bradley and Alexander seem hungrier for fights and are more likely to fight than Khan (who was looking for a fight with Marquez, Katsidis or Murray from lower weight divisions instead of his mandatory).

I think Paul has went through the ranks the right way and is a sound chap, and when he is boxing well he is very hard to beat, though unfortunately skill mightn't be enough to get him the shot he (and other top contenders) deserve. I'd like to see him finish Kotelnik or someone else thats known (possibly Ortiz) in that division and go straight for a title fight after that

If he boxes his usual way (like he did against Morrison, Lynes, Bazan etc) I'm sure he could beat anyone at 140

McCloskey needs to step up the opposition before he can expect a world title fight with Khan or anyone else and going to America might be the only way to do it. I think a fight with malignaggi would be perfect and if LEE/Duddy is happening in MSG that would be a perfect opportunity and a good enough card to temp American TV.
