McCloskey defends the European title for the second time on the 2nd of October vs Barry Morrison in Letterkenny.
Thats what I thought myself to be honest, a good fighter from anywhere around Europe. But I suppose it's only his second defense and he was supposed to fight Morrison a while ago but Morrison pulled out and Harrison came in.
good fight, if morrison is on good form this could be close, with maybe a contraversial decision to mcloskey, otherwise pm wins unanimas.
Not exactly the fight I wanted to see. http://boxing-ireland.com/20100818_mccloskey_morrison_announced_6.html
Its not the test Brian Peters is making it out to be though, the fella hes fighting has been fighting boxers with losing records for the past three years stil.Should be a nice enough fight though
really? it makes me yawn - loudly! Nolasco hasnt beaten anyone with a positive record in over 5 years!
Morrison will probably put up a decent fight, Scotsmen are generally pretty tough, Im sure it'll be much tougher than the fight with Dean Harrison was. Has McCloskey got out of that ridiculous rematch with Lauri?
There are two video interviews with both Morrison and McCloskey. Usual stuff, McCloskey hits the nail on the ehad tho about his world title chances and not taking Morrison lightly. Worth a look: http://sport.stv.tv/boxing/192787-mccloskey-eyes-world-title-ahead-of-ebu-defence-against-morrison/ I wish Morrison all the best (local boy) but think McCloskey got him covered!
McCloskey needs to step up after this, I understand it's better to fight Morrison than to wait around for the Lauri rematch but he's no spring chicken so he needs to get a move on.
