Mccloskey is terrible.

 

McCloskey is embarassing as are his management when it comes to this. Hilariously losing 6 rounds and making Khan miss has made him a contender who is in some sort of big fight with Prescott. Credit to him and his team as its worked.

McC needs to drop the Khan thing. He made him miss, well done, but he had nothing else for him and never will do.

I'm a McCloskey fan and I travelled over for the fight but I agree that he should let this rest at this stage. Obviously, he's disappointed and he'd love another crack at Khan but he's best off putting his head down and doing his talking in the ring which he has always done to date and he'll get another world title shot. I complained as much as anyone did at the time about the premature stoppage but he should move on from it and who knows if he's lucky and wins a title he may even get to fight Khan again down the road.

If the fight had of continued it's unlikely he would have won but I genuinely believe it was his plan to try and avoid a Salita like destruction in the first four rounds so he planned to stay defensive for the first half of the fight and I reckon he would have engaged more in the latter half, he would have had no other option at that stage anyway given that he was loosing 60-54. It's a shame we'll never know for certain what would have happened but it's better to crack on and put it behind you.

At the same time fighters are very proud and it was his first defeat so it's obviously hard to stomach so I wouldn't be too hard on him but his career and his reputation would be best served by staying quiet. He's made his protest and he should move on. He has a great promoter and a world class trainer and a good loyal following and there's options out there for him so it's time to avail of them and forget about Khan unless he becomes a champion in his own right and has something that would legitimatley attract Khan

Although he was a bit like a rabbnit in the headlights and badly behind in points in that fight, Khan didnt come out looking good either.


I hope Dudey puts on a good show against Prescott, and if he wins in good enough style, he can call out khan then (IMO whoever wins that fight will definitely call out khan)...realistically, he'd have to then win a fight with Maidana, or win a dfifferent belt to get a shot at Khan again.

 

Completely uncompetitive fights don't often get rematches Paul. lay off the Guiness.

Does anybody else find it weird how a lot of Khan's previous opponents are fighting with each other or at least arguing with each other to prove a point?

Prescott is fighting McCloskey (or the other way round) to prove he is still worthy. Then we have Prescott starting a war of words with Maidana saying "he couldn't get the job done." The bitter truth is all these boxers will be left in Khan's shadow (even though Prescott beat Khan badly).

I just have the feeling people will jump on me if I was to accuse these boxers of trying to milk it off Khan's name!!

 

That’s exactly what they’re doing. They all sound like bitter ex girlfriends. Other than Maidana, they’re all desperately clinging on to Khan’s name to remain relevant in the news. You only need to look at the McCloskey-Prescott fight poster to realize how hilariously desperate and obsessed they are with Khan.

Mind you, Khan doesn’t help his cause either (with Maidana). He brings up his name all too often. His recent tweets regarding the Guerrero injury were idiotic.

McCloskey was an awkward opponent and did well to make Khan look so ordinary, but he wasn't winning the fight nor can he fall back on the "I WOULD'VE BOPPED HIM IN ROUND 7" excuse, but it was an unfortunate cut, but I doubt the fight would've got much better, but who knows.
