Pretty much , I don't think New Yorkers would mind a shocking fight with upsets , they actually seem to love a fight that actually goes against the grain (any New Yorkers in the forum back me up?) . I think it would be best for Americans to at least have one of their own or a pure US based boxer as opposed to an unknown foreigner .

I don't think bad reflections are a key factor there is always that possibility in boxing , MSG is a very important place to Americans and having one of their own would be a more fitting point to AJ's debut .

I agree that Hunter and Ortiz would be the best possible candidates for this , tho PBC are closing rank on this and want AJ no-show so Ortiz is out . I think it will be Hunter less stress and worry about making the date , given past problems with Ortiz and PBC . Hunter seems hungry for this opportunity and seeing a hungry American on home soil wanting the upset will make a better fight .

Charr is MUCH worse option than Bryan

The opponent will be American or known quantity to the American audience. To avoid the event bombing it has to have some attractiveness to draw in the crowds

Kabayel is pretty decent. I'm unsure of how he fares at world level, would rather he beat a proper contender first

Most likely the lowest risk which would be cruiserweight Hunter, a total mismatch.

I've only seen 4 Hunter fights (Ustinvo, Bakole kiladze and Usyk. Based in these fights alone Hunter is certainly a bigger threat and provides AJ more issues than the likes Ruiz, Miller, Kownacki, Bryan and Charr.

Hunter accepted the fight against Povetkin on 25th May but Povetkin ducked.

Kabayel is probably the best opponent available for Joshua right now but he is little known outside Germany .Tough to sell him to the american public.I very much hope that Hunter gets the shot at Joshua.Byran and Charr dont deserve that big payday.Ortiz is old and looked quite mediocre against the limited Hammer.
I guess Kabayel would beat Hunter but I wouldnt bet any money on it.
By the way he is kurdish,no turk.

I could not disagree more, comparing him to Ali is a disgrace. Sadam would be outraged!

This might surprise you, but people in the US don't really know who Michael Hunter is. Most of his big fights have been in Europe or against Europeans and have gone unnoticed by general boxing fans in the US.

Charr is a dimly remembered joke who was outclassed by Vitali. Bryan is a total unknown, as is Kabayel.

Andy Ruiz has actually been on a televised undercard or two and Mexicans at least know who he is. (Mexicans are a large part of US boxing fans.)

Although creditable boxing wise he won't get a run cause he isn't know by anyone in the USA and that the whole point of this bout..

Miller really should have just taken his beating like a man instead of trying to cheat his way out of it..

Still think they should let him fight drug free and watch him gas out throwing 5 punches before twitching on the canvas from the first big shot he receives..

Hunter although is unknown to casuals he would be easy to market.

    - Father an ex boxer with wins over the likes Mccall and P.Thomas.
    - Trainer Hasim Rahman who caused one biggest upsets ever to become HW champion of the world.
    - Ex sparring partner of AJ, Wad and Wilder.
    - Hunter has a strong amateur background with wins over the likes of Ruiz and Rivas
    - was tipped by the late great Emmanuel Steward to become the next big thing and WC.

By all accounts the German Ali absolutely schooled and battered Joshua in sparring, foresaw that he can't cope with inside fighting.

When is Kabayel going to get his chance at a world title. He already comprehensively schooled Chisora, the man who Whyte went life or death with once and was down on the cards to in the rematch.
