When asked if AJ needs to go back to the drawing board McCaracken responded by saying "there`s no drawing board, just jab, use the right hand and apply pressure" Didn`t AJ just try that v Usyk? Should AJ really use those predictable tactics in the rematch?

Well, he didn't jab well (a snappy jab), at least consistently...nor did he apply consistent pressure, and the right hand made only sporadic appearances. McCracken isn't wrong that using more of those tools (in greater propensity and using them more well), would cause Joshua to do better. He is, however, missing a big piece of the puzzle for AJ and that's body punching. The few times he committed to it he did great.

That said, you could put AJ with Angelo Dundee for the rematch, and have him make every correct adjustment in the book...he's still IMO going to not ever clearly beat Usyk. Maybe win a couple more rounds, that's it.

I’d honestly be more than surprised if Mcracken is still there for the Usyk rematch. There is too much riding on this rematch for Joshua to lose it,imagine Joshua not being the A side anymore and have to start fighting away to rebuild himself ! Like most I’d heard enough of Hearn and all this A side B side bollocks and fighters having to accept 10% of the purse for the rematch if they did beat him. Hearn the business man should have agreed the lifetime contract deal with Joshua after the Usyk fight not before and got a much better deal .

Not sure how effective that will be, however I'm pretty sure they can afford that.

No point, there isn't a coach on earth that's going to come in and remold Joshua enough to make all that much difference in the outcome. All changing of the guard will do is subtract a familiar comforting voice in AJ's corner, which could backfire and cause him to perform even worse.

The ultimate 5D chess move, AJ hires away Malik Scott AND SugarHill Steward to be his new team.

I'm not sure what's going on in his camp. I'm not certain it's McCracken that's the issue, but there are warning signs.

I don't buy that Joshua genuinely came into the fight with such an obviously poor gameplan as 'outbox the boxer'. Everyone and their nan could tell you that's a bad idea (and indeed they have in their post-fight hot takes). Give up your advantages and fight on your opponent's terms?

If Joshua and his team really went through the entire however many months preparation with that in mind, and the twelve losing rounds, without once questioning it: the only effective adaptation would be to fire everybody and install Joshua a brain transplant.

The idea that he didn't have a clear plan going in is far more credible. Joshua might have focused on a few changes but for the most part I think he was just expecting a more challenging Pulev.

Overall though, I don't think there's that much Joshua can do. Usyk is simply on another level to him. He might get to the point where he thinks he's ready for the Usyk in the first fight, but even if that's close to correct Usyk will be the one to change up his game and make the better adaptations in the ring.

If anyone is going to improve in the rematch it will be Usyk, the only way for AJ to win is sit on him and bully him the way Fury would, however AJ would only have 4-5 rounds of gas for that plan.
