£3.80 per kg of copper now, I weighed in three small bags and a small water cylinder and got £147 last week.

We used to have 2 small lockable skips outside our unit, one for copper and the other for iron etc..... not the copper one now, keep it in the lockup 'cos it's not worth the risk.

They even pay £1 per kg for electric cable with the plastic on..... we go through loads of that stuff :yikes

Im from teh black country mate, tatting is in our blood. I just never did that kind of stuff but i know many folk in one pub i drink in that go around stealing any metal what-so-ever. The even weigh in beer barrels as i have mentioned. Do they do that by you??? By me lead theft is rife, only last last month someone got caught stealing the churches lead, he fell through the roof and broke his leg and got busted. Imagine going to court and the judge addressing you for stealing from a church. Jesus christ you wouldnt live it down. Lower than low mate... Portside low.

Not really these days, all the scrappies now have made an agreement not to buy manhole covers, which were disappearing all over the place when the price was £250/t for steel, can't say many people our way have had their lead go missing, though I live on a main road so there's always someone passing by.
