Like a lot of trainers just a cheer leader and motivator, no substance, just James Degale's biggest fan, the same as certain Manc trainers.
Tbh not just saying it but i remember when James went for Jim after going around country's gyms and i was like ''that's not a logical choice for style he wants and skills he has and wants to develop'' Jim is and never was what i call a technical coach. His fighters always say he works you hard and there was talk that he overtrained McDermott for Fury II. Personally if James stays in London gotta be Tibbs. He can relate to James as a man being a Londoner. He will tell him straight who's good people and who ain't. Tibbs is fully respected in this country and seems a great guy. He would never be so dismissive of a fighter in build up to a fight like McDonnell was of Groves. Even if he felt the way Jim did he wouldn't let his fighter feel that way. Also i believe for a fighter who doesn't throw technically correct punches he still seems to buzz fighters and with Tibbs working on technique as well as the mentality of a fighter it could be a great match. Jimmy's corner'd the best we've produced and seen world title fights his experience would bring nothing but good things to James and if ''Chunky'' steps out of line Jimmy would tell him in no uncertain terms...although i've heard James is a perfectionist. If he goes Stateside i'd like to see him work with Robert Garcia/Joel Diaz. Both guys are young but seen the ring and know the game but also get on with there fighters but produce astute gameplans for fighters as well as work them like dogs in training. Plus good sparring would be out there for James.
He lasted into 12th with Azumah Nelson, went 12 with Brian Mitchell - that deserves respect but as a trainer :-( [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eozas2dJurs[/ame]
:rofl If Jim Mcdonnel is one of Britain's top trainers then it is worrying for the state of brit boxing
Personally i see this happening if he lets Jim Go...Jimmy Tibbs played by Arnie. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPZul_sVRoM&NR=1[/ame]
The best bit was the ''gameplan'' to beat Tyson. ****ing Gameplan! :rofl... ''take shitloads of bombs stand there till Tyson ****s his knee up then take over Dan''
God, i don't it would be possible for me to hate anyone as much as i would hate a Degale / Mayweather combo. That would be a collective of wankers if ever there was one.
I'm not sure who he'd work with in the States. Tommy Brooks or Richardson would be my favourites.... but I'm not sure Naz would want any primadonnas in his gym. Imagine Hopkins giving DeGale a dressing down for being late or not putting in during sparring :hey
I think DeGale would love it tbh. I heard he will work for 7 straight sessions on a certain move if he can't do it. The backslappers must go if he went with Naazim that's for sure. I remember him getting excited on Radio cos he was talking to Calzaghe (his hero) and asked him for advice. I think a move to Naazim would be all positive but i never seen Naazim's work developing a fighters technique. Nard and Mosley were fully fledged guys with understanding of punch form etc. James has some glaring flaws in his technique. Anyone seen much of Rock Allen? (his son)
I don't know who Naz has trained, whether he's improved anyone or not. He's the dogs with tactics though, gave Mosley the right plans to beat both Mayweather and Pacquiao, but the old man simply couldn't get it done. Not seen anything of his son.... just had a look on Boxrec and he's been inactive for two years (currently 15-0 7KO's).
