Did you want him to get hurt more but finish the fight just to salvage some pride for you??? Sounds like it to me. After all your talk today, you must be feeling a little stupid? Maybe you were just joking?
Im not sure why anyone picked Paulie to win , he was out numbered in too many areas, namely experience and quality of opponents. Hatton is 1-1 against the world best p4p fighter in the world that has to count for something, and let not forget the year of experienced in the corner. Also Hatton has more KOes then Paulie has fights , all in all just too much everything for paulie tonight.. Even with out Floyd in his Corner Hatton would have beat Paulie , this was more of a feeling out process between fighter and new trainer. Boxing fan are also to caught up in Hatton's lost to Floyd , like anyone Floyd beats they were never that good to begin with or there some type of excuse , I think Paulie was one those people that though Hatton was a 3 level bum.
imo it was a bad stoppage but mcgirt loves throwing in the towel and either way hattonw as going to win paulie had no chance of hurting him but hatton wasnt hurting him either paulie could and should have been allowed to just lose and not get stopped where he was never really even wobbled except in the 2nd round and never went down at all they should have let him lose via UD
You guys are missing the point of this post. Paulie will fire McGirt for this move and I would have done the same. No Paulie was not going to win, no way. But, he was in no jeopardy of being stopped either. You people obviously don't understand anything about a fighters pride. Hatton was not going to stop Paulie and Paulie was still making him miss the large part of his shots. Also Paulie was holding excessively this fight. Sometimes a fighter just needs to finish a fight for their confidence. Paulie didnt want a stoppage on his record. He was most of the way through the fight, honor your fighters wishes.
Ricky was playing with him, he could have ****ed him up at will. The corner could see it as well as I could.
Thats not what Hatton said post fight. He said he had a lot of difficulty hittign Paulie and hatton did miss him a lot. the compubox numbers, even with paulie practically not fighting were still close. i
If not kept in check a fighter pride and get him killed or even maimed for life .. Mcgert know that all to well ,, once when he was stopped by Meldric Taylor , the other when he was knocked flatter then day old beer by Tony Baltizar and was able to get off the canvous and win a decision with a concussion .. Let not count the time Buddy fought with a ruptured bicep and injured shoulder socket .. So Im pretty sure Buddy knows a losing situation when he see one and this was one of them.
There is no way in hell this fight shouldve been stopped. Brilliant performance by Ricky but Paulie should've been allowed to continue.
Well Paulie didn't really seemed to be fighting at the stage it was stopped. He looked drained and like a good gust of wind would blow him over. Basically I think he would have got knocked out before the end of the fight came.
Seriously, if anyone thinks Paulie was in jeopardy of being brain damaged in the last 2 rounds your high and stupid. There was no more risk in Paulie finishing these last 2 rounds than any slugger fighting any fight. Look at a guy like Andrade and that guy on the Undercard Vera. These guys take punishment far exceeding anything Paulie was getting in this fight every round. Boxers take a risk everytime they step into the ring. McGirt did not stop this fight to save Paulie, he stopped this fight because Paulie wasnt fighting effectively. Bad call on Mcgirt's part and Paulie will fire him because of it.
Man just stop Paulie was taking a un cut ass whoopin plain and simple, even though he was not hurt when the fight was stopped who to say he would not have gotten hurt in the next round. Any trainer that lets they're fighter get beat to unconsciousness needs they ass whooped, Oscar Diaz didn't look like anything was wrong ether until he started talking like some one off the short bus.
