This **** isn't ballet. Hatton was easily winning but not giving him a terrible beating. This has become a bad habit of Mcgirt.

Nobody's addressing: Paulie got 7 figures to try and win the fight, not to last

Gatti may have been on ***** Street, but he was still tryin' to win -- hit a home run -- a very different story. Paulie gave up the ghost almost immediately.

If he really had pride, he'd a gone out on his shield.

Look you cannot predict the future. Paulie may have turned around and won the 12th round. He was in no serious jeopardy. In terms of the amount of punishment Paulie took in this fight it doesnt even compare, not even close, to some fights I have seen. I am sure you and I could name dozens of fights where a fighter could ahve been stopped that were worse than tonight.

Paulie was in no danger of beign beaten unconscious more than in any other round in that fight or in any other fight hes been in with big punchers. Like Paulie said, if he could go 12 with Cotto who really beat the **** out of him he can go 12 with Hatton.

Question: Did buddy mcgirt talked of stopping it with paulie in the corner? it will be bad stoppage if he didn't warned paulie first.

yep, he told him before he went out that he'd stop it if he didn't start throwing punches. I understand Paulie's frustration but he was getting hurt and often. He's a tough lad but Mcgirt quite rightly didn't want to see him get hurt any more, or seriously damaged....and that's a fair stoppage to me.

Yeah, he warned. He always does. 1/10 times when I see Buddy in the corner he is either telling his fighter he's going to stop the fight or he threatens to stop the fight.

I wish you'd come in here more often to set some of these young lads straight jg........

I was feeling the same disgust at Malignaggi, when he
(without shame:-( ) was dissing McGirt for stopping the fight.

"I'm better than getting stopped," was what Malignaggi said to Larry Merchant......which was basically Paulie telling everyone he was fighting to cross the finish line.:patsch :-(

I respect anyone with the balls to enter a boxing ring to fight......but I just cant respect the effort of a fighter who's only their to survive.

Like you said jg, Malignaggi got paid 7 figures to clinch, hold, and basically be in survival mode for the last 10 rounds of that fight.

Got to tip my hat to Buddy McGirt, certainly he's not perfect, but he warned Malignaggi loud and clear that he would stop the fight if Paulie did'nt fight.......I've got to respect a man of his word!

Its never foolish to have a guy in there looking out for your best interest. Yeah it sucks for Maggs that Buddy stopped the fight, Im not sure that the ref wasnt about to, but he had NO SHOT at winning that fight and he was getting hammered what is the point in that??? Not to mention Buddy told him that if he didnt show him showthing that he would stop the fight and Maggs went right out and got trapped on the ropes and started taking shots...I wish that more trainers would do that, it would cut down on the number of head injuries that we have in boxing.
