Can't say I agree, though it is nice to see many boxing greats giving Joe praise of the highest order.

I still think Lennox has the edge h2h at his weight though. There's only a couple of hw's in history that would beat LL IMO. Jones, Hopkins and Toney from the last 15-20 years alone would beat Joe C.

Lewis, as much as I like him, was beaten by two average - good fighters in McCall and Rahman...

Joe has not, nor will he ever lose to such a calibre of fighter. I also feel that Lewis has seen his legacy appreciate with time, because I remember people often insulting him on this forum (utterly unjustly) mainly in regards to never facing a prime Holyfield, Tyson or most ludicrously of all, Bowe...

Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton are 'greats' certainly in a British sense.

They also have a high standing in their respective weight classes all time, though in all honesty both are pretty young divisions (168 and 140).

Good point, Lewis has fewer peers in HW H2H comparisons. A prime Jones would have murdered Calzaghe, and I would consider both Toney and Hopkins in their primes, favourites against Mr Calzaghe.

I know what you're saying. But can you not see the paradox? If you face better opposition consistently you are more likely to lose from time to time, I don't think there is any shame in that, especially when you avenge those loses.

McCall and Rahman have both held world titles, I don't see them being any worse than two of the BEST fighters on Calzaghe's resume; Eubank & Lacy. - this shows the gulf in class between Lennox and Joe's resumes.

Yeah man, I'm inclined to agree that Lennox has the superior resume overall between the two, though I disagree that Eubank was on the level of a McCall or Rahman: I feel that does him a disservice.

I do think it's closer than many would have you believe though Lewis is that bit better overall :good

I dont think Barry McGuigan meant that Calzaghe was top 5 all time ever in the world, I think he meant top 5 British without dispute & arguably the no1 ever Brit.

    I agree.

    Jones ?.... probably.

Hopkins & Toney ?.... probably not.

Ps. the SMWT division is only about 20 yrs old if Im not mistaken which means that Joe ranks AT LEAST top 4 in his best weight class, not bad.
