Lewis' record is vastly superior to Calzaghe's.

    Please explain this myth ?

Both men cleaned out their divisions, does it really matter which location they beat these men ?... there was NOBODY left to beat once they got done in their divisions (well, Lewis never rematched Vitali but other than that small detail) , thats a fact so you must still be on this `Calzaghe never fought in the US` bull****, wake the **** up.

No, he definitely wasn't. Also, check the vote on this forum, the vast majority agrees.

No, it matter "where", 'who' is what matters.
Winning the ibf, wbc and wba titles not to mention the lineal championship, beating Mason, Bruno, Tua, Golota, Holyfield, Mercer, Klitschko et al in a fairly competitive division is to me far more impressive than winning a vacant wbo title (which nobody in their right mind recognised at the time and few in their right mind do now) against a Eubank whose best days were behind him, defending it against weak opposition in a shallow talent pool for years, beating Lacy (a good win, I don't discredit it) Kessler (ditto but neither on the level of Lewis' best wins), 44 year old Hopkins in a fight which could have gone either way an looking bad doing it and molesting the corpse of Roy Jones.
    Need more?
I'm not saying Calzaghe wasn't a good fighter, I think he was, I think he'd give anybody a tough fight but he does not have very many creditable opponents on his record, not as many as Lewis certainly.

The first part of McGuigan's quote says 'Calzaghe is the Greatest Brit Ever'
The second part of the quote says 'top 5 of All Time'
Surely Barry is not trying to say that Calzaghe is the #1 Brit ever and then in the same sentence say that he is a top 5 Brit all time.

It looks like he is saying that Calzaghe is an All Time Worldwide top 5 boxer ?

They were all going to beat Joe. Americans were saying Hopkins would school Joe and as soon as Joe turned up the heat Hopkins was looking for the exit. It will take a while for the North American fans to realize just how good Joe really was. The shock that the fighters over here were so far behind this guy is still clouding fans minds. Accept reality, Calzaghe is one of the top of all time.

Your points may or may not be true. However, nothing will ever change the historical fact that when Joe had a chance to go out with a win over a top ten P4P fighter in his prime, he ran and hid behind a version of Roy Jones that is more shot than JFK. That is one of the most thoroughly documented cases of one fighter ducking another in boxing history.

    FAO Bill Butcher

A 43 year old Hopkins took Calzaghe to a contested split decision - a fight I (and others) believe he won.

The Hopkins of five years previous would have TOYED with Joe, who couldn't land **** all night.
