    People STILL believe this myth?

Last time i seen him in a full 12 rounder (Valuev) he looked fine.

I wouldn't use a fight where he threw about 10 shots a round to prove his stamina is fine.

10 punches a round is probably overstating it against Valuev.

    He fought for 36 minutes.

People say 'why is he gassed after a few rounds'.

    Name these fights then....

He threw about ten shots per round and spent the remainder of the time running around the ring like a chicken. Sure, he won the fight but only because Valuev was absolutely gash..... Holyfield did a better job a year earlier but didn't get the decision bizarrely.

He was ****ed against Mormeck, ****ed against Barrett, ****ed against Valuev and ****ed against Ruiz too.

He doesn't do any roadwork at all.... compare his stamina to say Calzaghe's or Froch's and the difference is huge.

This is a hard topic to come to a conclusion on. Yes modern fighters benefit from modern training and dietary techniques and seem to be bigger and stronger than old school fighters, yet they seem to be ****ed after 10 rounds while past boxers could go 15 rounds or more no problem. But I dont think past boxers were anywhere near as active as modern ones. This is especially true for heavyweights, fellas like Marciano who are famed for there stamina often didnt seem to throw more than 50 punches a round. Thats dosent seem like great conditioning to me, even in fifteen rounder's. A lot of it is also mental id say. The human mind can adapt itself to a tough feat, if todays fighters were forced to go 15 rounds, im sure they could with the right mindset. Mike tyson had this same opinion.

50 punches a round is fine for a heavyweight over 15 rounds. You have to remember they have to cut back a little to compensate for the fact they have another 9 minutes to go.

But Luke, what if Haye wins? Will it be like matter and anti-matter meeting?

    e.g.

Wlad threw 523 punches against Sam Peter in their first encounter. 44 punches a round (rounded up) over 12. Against a stationary target too.

Success in any sport is down to 3 things. Genetics, Mentality and Envioment.

Fighters today have a better enviroment but a weaker mentality.
