I totally agree with Duke, Powell looks like he would do a good job with Khan and as for Frank Warren he is keeping Amir grounded which is a plus because Amir Khan is calling out the best in the division and is clearly not ready for them yet.

he makes some good points, mainly about khans rush to fight for a world strap, needs to fight a couple or three more domestics, starting with someone who is a) a fully fledged lightweight, and b) can bang a bit.

The good points he makes a ****ing blindingly obvious. The bad points he makes are very bad and pretty stupid.

An American trainer probably wouldn't "work out for him"... Why? Based on what? How would Mayweather not work out? Why would an American trainer with the far better sparring in the US not work out?

And the plug for Warren. Yes he is the best promoter if Khan just wants to make money and defend a WBO strap for years. Who is to say he would not be well off to move on in say 5 fights time? Or even now? Hatton has made more money since leaving Warren, and Khan sells himself to his fanbase now.

How would signing with another promoter, going stateside and maybe getting a HBO deal be a bad move?

Duke probably heard JC had turned down the chance to become a partner at SN and would have a go himself.

Powell as a trainer to take Khan forward.....who the fck is going to take that seriously ?

Some good points made by McKenzie, particularly in this (IMO) foolish rush with Khan's career, but I get the feeling he's trying to help out his old trainer after what would look like far from a ringing ensdorsement of his abilities to develop Khan.

Nothing wrong with Khan's offense, and he'll gain power as he gets older, but that defense needs to be worked on urgently.

Yank trainers try to turn british fighters into yanks. British fighters have different heads to American fighters, they dont understand the british understanding.. they just try to calm the fighters down. Make them read the bible for a couple of hours. Buddy mcgirts done it with paul smith, hes taken the fire away from him.. saying **** like calm down "buddy"/homeboy/g keep it cool and all this nonsence. Pauls smith should loose mcgirt.. hes been soppy every since mcgirts been around, paul smith was a crank before mcgirt now hes all soppy, he looks like hes gonna cry in all the recent interviews hes done

If Duke McKenzie has actually spoken some sense, it's purely by chance.

powell i have never really rated, decent fitness instructor but he is just a mit holder and part time jogger. he does know his stuff but when he's telling khan to beware of the overhand right from gomez. overhand right....when has gomez been known to thrown good overhand rights. it was always the left hook, always.
alex arthur was knocked from a right hand yes but did powell forget about the 20 left hooks to the jaw in the same round.

oliver harrison was/is a good trainer. i have no reasons why you would break up a decent training camp and then having dean powell to become trainer instead...hilarious.

does anyone think that khan wanted a famous american trainer(good or not) buddy, rog mw,manny s to pick him up when he said he was trainerless...then found he needed a trainer as quick as possible so he picked up the nearest trainer at hand. mr dean powell.
