I dont agree with the praise for Mckinson. Hes a boring fighter with no power whatsover who was completely out of his depth. Can't see him beating anyone above Chris Kongo level.
He’s stuck at it coming up the hard way on small hall shows - had nothing handed to him and grabbed his opportunity with both hands against Kongo. He didn’t have any fights that bridged the gap to the level of an Ortiz but still took the fight and showed a big set of bollocks in the process. He may not pack the one hitter quitter but he’s a decent boxer with a good boxing brain that has grit in him. I hope he gets more opportunities off the back of that last fight now
Got to give him credit, took a fight that others wouldn’t and boxed his heart out, ultimately was outclassed but gave it his all. Shame he doesn’t have more power in his shots
I'm trying to think what he should do next now. Clearly a very talented boxer and has a very good chin and heart but the distinct lack of power and killer instinct is my only concern. 28 and with 23 fights under his belt, 22-1, the rather alarming stat of 2 KO's is something that just can't be ignored, especially as one of them was an opponent tearing a bicep and having to retire. 1 TKO victory and another retiring through injury. Lad needs to work on his power.
This content is protected Seems like a terrible move from Mckinson to leave Matchroom and join Boxxer. He's headlining an event in Italy in March after his Boxxer debut when he wasn't on the main telecast. Looks especially bad when he could have fought Alexis Rocha in America on DAZN. Now it looks like Rocha will fight Terence Crawford since Crawford looks like he'll sign a deal with Golden Boy / DAZN.
He's fighting an unknown Brazilian in an 8-rounder in Italy on a non Boxxer card that won't be televised. He should have stayed with Matchroom as it looks like Jaron "Boots" Ennis is signing with them, and Crawford could sign for Golden Boy. They also have Ryan Garcia, Alexis Rocha as well as Ortiz Jr who he lost to.
