he could have gotten up from the kd in my opinion he was just there for the paycheck n robbed us fans from a proper fight
I was thinking exactly the same thing. It looked like, "well I'll stick around for 4 rounds, make it look like I earned my money, then first time he tags me, I'm getting out of there." But Arreola can't be criticized here, he can only beat what's put in front of him, and on this occasion, he did.
Ive not seen the fight but had a feeling mccline would do something like this.He has never delivered in any of his big fights and has been getting big money fights he dont deserve for a while. He has always seemed lazy to me and as soon as fights get tough he looks like he wants to be elsewhere.
I agree with the title of this thread.....ive known Jameel for quite some time and ive seen him spar on countless occassions and when he didnt want to be there in sparing he looked exactly like he did last night...he wasnt out he was out of shape and exhausted.....it was a last minute fight for him and a last payday before he goes back into retirement
McCLine's post fight comments to Larry Merchant also lead you to believe he seemed to realize he was merely a paid to come out of retirement KO victim for Arreola. He said something like, Well, he beat me, so who am I to say he can't beat the Klitschkos? Sounded as if he was reading a prewritten HBO hype line for Arreola.
Jameel always talks like that, he is humble in the extreme.. I did expect a lot more from him , but he did physically look like he did in 2000 before he beat Grant, he was just another laborious cedric boxer with a spare tyre and no expectations.. he either needs a ray of hope or he is going to swallow it and retire........
I agree, McCline simply did not care enough about this fight to try hard. When he went down, he just gave up (he probably did not even have to go down if he was a determined fighter). His head was perfectly clear. He got right up after being counted out. It would have been nice for the fans if he at least went all out in the first two rounds and gave it a nioe attempt before laying down.
It's not like McCline jobbed it, though. He wasn't finding success and was mouth-breathing a minute into the fight, but once he found a home for the left, he seemed to try like hell to score big with it. Nipple adjusted nicely to neutralize the left hand. McCline tried a couple of other angles, couldn't find anything, tried bullying with the weight and borderline fouls in the 3rd, got hurt bad to the jaw doing that by an accidental clash of heads, then got hurt bad with punches... :vonnecunt There wasn't any need for him to take further punishment and risk permanent damage. He had no answers left to offer, was getting too exhausted to implement them if he did, and would have gotten KTFO that round or the next. I'd want an x-ray of that jaw ASAP, too.
lol what dude? You should of known this wasn't gonna be a fight but just some lame ass freakshow. You could tell at the weigh in that this wasn't gonna be a fight....
It seemed like McCline quit, he could've got up from the 10 count though he probably would've gotten stopped. McCline still had a chance throughout that fight with the left hook.
